We should make a list of everyone Hopkins said he was going to fight over the past year or so. Want to start with Ademak?
Oh aye! I am sure Wlad wants to fight Haye!! Chef will know the "Full script" but I would bet my bollocks that Wlad would love to get Haye in the ring with him, asap!! I honestly think that David has really upset and annoyed the big fell! And if these two ever fight I envisage Wlad doing a serious number on him, but if Wlad went for it from the off then we could witness fireworks, and David's chances (Which are very slim imo) would undoubtedly improve!! Don't get me wrong, I am a fan of David Haye, and always have been, but you are correct, if he beats Ruiz (And I believe he will, but I wouldn't suffer a heart-attack if Ruiz beat him) then Wlad/Vitali ought to be his next opponent!
I heard Hopkins talkin about becoming the third MW champ to win a HW championship and being Jones the 2nd one to have done it... C'mon, Jones won a WBA title from John Ruiz and James Toney did the same but was tested positive for roids - curiously it's the same "Quiet Man" to face David haye tomorrow so theorically Bernard can become the third former MW Champ to beat John Ruiz for a WBA HW title but in case it's David Haye, hey... Hopkins is 45 years old and he is to put on 20 pounds of muscle to face a 6'3'' tall younger, stronger and faster man??? Hopkins would have been better off getting it on with Chad Dawson and like he said in ESPN, unify the LHW Division titles.
A great fighter (Hopkins) against a hyped fighter (Haye). Hopkins finds a way to frustrate Haye and win on points.
Haye has categorically stated on several occasions that he WILL NOT fight Hopkins or Holyfield. I'm sure that even the WBA wouldn't make either the mandatory challenger, so he won't be put in an awkward position with regard retaining his title.
It is a bit odd but it would be quite a spectacle. Haye would make more money fighting Hopkins than he has for any other fight... until a Klitschko deal is made of course.
The WBA orders Haye to fight whoever and Haye follows the Commission and the path to generate money. If that means fighting either man, then not even he cares for what he has said... Actually, two things strike me the most - why would Hopkins be so confident that he will get a shot at a HW title now and why would Haye mention Hopkins and Holyfield in particular???
Believe it or not, Hopkins may believe he has a better chance at beating Haye than Dawson. I wouldn't call Haye a hype job but he is overrated. One thing's for sure, there's nothing about Dawson that's overrated.
http://espn.go.com/sports/boxing/notebook/_/id/5048043/hopkins-hopes-reverse-fortune-jones Did you guys hear that interview? Hopkins is hinting or pretty much saying that he WILL fight the winner of Haye/Ruiz. They are both GBP fighters and he said there is a reason why both fights are being held in the same night. So he will be fighting Haye/Ruiz assuming he wins. Wow.
There's absolutely no way Hopkins could pull off a win against Haye. If it happens and he actually did win, I'd be absolutely astonished.
hey bro, alot of people thought hopkins barely had a chance against pavlik and he dominated him... member haye is not KLIT (size) ... never know with B-hop
Yup, the odds are greatly stacked against Hopkins but you just never know. Haye is big but he's not a Klit. It will be a 6'3" man against a 6'1" man with about a 30 lb weight difference. Hopkins has so much skill and knowledge. You just never know. I know if this was on PPV, i have my money ready already.
As I stated earlier. I'll believe it when I see it. Hopkins has thrown out a lot of names and nothing has ever happened. Wasn't he supposed to fight the 'winner' of Green/Jones? That said, if Hopkins DOES take the fight, that means he and Richardson see something.
Watch the Hopkins interview i inserted a few posts up. He is pretty much giving us inside info about GBP's future plans. And it involves him fighting the winner of Ruiz/Haye.
