Let's discuss I actually like B-Hop on points in this one. Holy was a rhythm fighter, especially as a light heavy. Once he established his rhythm where his footwork and combos flowed, he was hard to beat. B-Hop excelled at keeping opponents OUT of their rhythm. He'd have been Holy's Kryptonite. :bbb
Hmmmmmm ok while were at it, lets feed Oscar de la hoya to Lennox Lewis, the results would be pretty much the same, lol:nut....
I'm serious If my memory serves me correct, Holyfield only had one fight at Lt. Heavy. Maybe two. I dunno.
Young Holy (from the first Qawi fight) isn't much bigger than Old Hopkins at light-heavy & that's an interesting fight. Is Hopkins too crafty or will Holy's remarkable stamina be overwhelming?
So you are comparing a 25 year old, 11-0, and even at that stage cruiserweight Evander Holyfield to which version of Hopkins, and at light heavyweight?
Yes Holy weighed mid 180s for the 1st Qawi fight (same day weigh in iirc), he wasn't that much bigger than Hopkins at light heavy
probably a closer fight than most people think but Holyfield would win a 8-4, 9-3 type of decision at 175. he can fight just as dirty and crafty as Hopkins, is naturally bigger, and a little faster too. and his inside game is probably better than Bernard's too, so that takes away one of Bernard's biggest advantages
Maybe not a helluva lot bigger, but certainly a much more powerful and physical man. But strangely enough, it might not be that cut and dried. On paper yes, but Hopkins knows how to look after himself in there, and is as tough as old leather. He may provide a few problems for Holy to solve, especially since Hop is going to try and turn this into a chess match and stay away from the physical side of things. Remember how bad Holy looked against Czyz? It might be similar here. But Holy has noting to fear from Hopkins power-wise, and has a higher workrate. That may be (should be enough) for him to establish ascendancy, but I dunno if it will be the blowout people are inclined to think.
So in one corner you have the 25 year old, 11-0, and even at that stage cruiserweight Evander Holyfield. In the other corner you have Hopkins? But which version of Hopkins are you proposing fight the 11-0 Holyfield at light heavyweight??
Didn't he (Holyfield) only have one fight at light heavy? Well if you're putting a 1 fight novice Holyfield against B-Hop, I'll go with Hopkins.
