I think the Hopkins that beat Trinidad would beat any Golovkin in a very very close, competitive and probably controversial fight.

I think a prime Golovkins activity rate would give Hops some issues, but I think Golovkin would pay too in that Hopkins would land some wicked counters on him inside.

Interesting fight. I dont have an issue with someone picking G here, I just favor Hopkins, I think he would land the clearer and sharper shots while getting hit less in the process.

Yeah a bit puzzling considering neither fought at 154 did they ? unless they did very early in their career i don't know.

But as for the fight when both stepped up to the higher level, Golovkin looked more beatable vs Jacobs, Canelo x2. Where as Hopkins still dominated the likes of Trinidad, Holmes. Although Golovkin did look more impressive in beating solid contenders overall.

As for the fight i think Hopkins is a bit too crafty for Golovkin and wins a close decision.

Correct, neither ever fought at 154. So it really doesn't make sense to me, we don't know how GGG's power would translate down or whether either would be drained.

If we are talking middleweight (which makes sense) Golovkin likely stops Bernard. Mercado slapped him around ffs. Bhop didn't really get "crafty" until later in his career.

I don't really understand why your bringing up the Mercado fight, that was very early in Hopkins's career when he was still green. And you fail to mention that Hopkins was fighting in Ecuador at 9350 feet altitude, and Hopkins didn't arrive in Ecuador until 4 days before the fight. So he didn't climatize himself properly and was obviously effected by that. And in the rematch he easily destroyed and dominated Mercado in 7 one sided rounds.

Lets not pit the green version of Hopkins against a prime Golovkin who was fighting in high altitude, but rather the Hopkins who destroyed P4P number 2 Trinidad makes more sense doesn't it ? since normally in mythical match ups we normally pick when both fighters are at their best.

They would both fail to make weight then they would both fight at middleweight.

Golovkin couldn't stop Daniel Jacob's, but he's going to stop Hopkins?

    Nah

So like most of the opponents Golovkin built his name off of.
