Hopkins. Awkward style will frustrate Calzaghe, take him out of his gameplan. Also, extra weight on Calzaghe will slow him just enough for Hopkins to catch him with shots more often than he'd be able to at 168. Most importantly, this is being fought in Las Vegas. Calzaghe will not get a points decision on American soil against one of the premier American boxing attractions. Just isn't going to happen. And he certainly isn't capable of knocking Hopkins out.

I can see where the logic behind these points comes from, but when Calzaghe whoops Hopkins from pillar to post this will all seem pretty silly.

Don't underestimate the ability of judges to 'see' fights differently than other spectators when the fight's being fought on home soil. Calzaghe has a very uphill battle in getting a decision in Las Vegas, even if he does beat Hopkins pillar ot post.

I think a dodgy decision is out of the question.

Home-town decisions are often attributed to crowd reactions. Generally the reaction of the home-town boxer's fans can be known to sway judges. I believe that the crowd will be at least 50/50. There are many Calzaghe fans planning to attend.

There can only be a dodgy decision if the judges are bought by GBP. Just can't see it happening.

Could be, but Hopkins has made American boxing a lot of money, and that brings a lot of influence. Calzaghe has made American boxing zero dollars. If this fight is even debatably close, Hopkins will get the nod. But I hope to be wrong.

It's not about if the fighter is a southpaw or orthdox, it's about how good the fighter is. And who are those southpaws that Hopkins beat? 6 of those guys are bums and the only notable southpaw he beaten was Antonio Tarver.

Hopkins has all the tricks in the book and may frustrate Joe a little early on but by the middle rounds Calzaghe will be running away with this

Comfortable UD for joe ( Although the Judges will have it closer ! that'll be the three american judges and the american ref no doubt ! )
