No comment neede for this one. he was old past his prime and had circumstances working against him as well. Pretty smart to judge a fighter based on their last bout. Not to mention that the scoring was a bit bogus. What is Hop`s signature victory at middle ? Please don`t tell me it was against a blown up welter making one too many climbs in weight ? We are talking prime for prime, yes ?
Wow, you really are ignorant of the circumstances ! Little story my friend. Halger wanted and chased SRL, who would NOT give Hagler a return go ! As for crying, last time I saw that was when Bernard (again) feigning injury against Dawson holding his `hurt` shoulder ...Or holding his boo boo after he `slipped` and feel against Allen ?? Please, we know who does the crying and faking...
Look its clear youll never give a fighter that fought after the 80s any credit so just stop here. There isnt a middleweight that Hagler fought that would beat Hopkins.
True Kinda lost it over Hagler in this thread ... Hop and Hagler are both two, ATG`s... The both did it the old school way. Fought everyone even when they both had the door shut in their faces. lot of similarities to their storied careers. Tough fight guaranteed. It`s even tougher picking the rematch. Because they both were beats the second time around !!
Hagler wasn`t Hagler anymore for the SRL fight. Less said the better. But, a champ shouldn`t be climbing off the deck, twice and fighting to a draw against a Mercado either.
And Joppy is the measuring stick ?? Joppy ??? Besides, it`s a true statement. Before that David Reid ?
Not true, I pick RJJ over Hagler head to head... Maybe not as easy as against Hopkins. But, Jones freakish speed, use of angles and ability to pull the trigger, make him just about impossible to beat at 160 ...
The thing about Roy Jones Junior is that while everyone knows he had tremendous talent, speed and reflexes, we just don't know how good he is because he didn't face many great opponents outside of Hopkins.
Tito needed to reset his feet to throw. Guys could **** him up with some lateral movement and pivots. His footwork became more ponderous as he moved up in weight and his power advantage decreased. To each his own. It's obvious people disagree about Hagler and Hopkins (thus the 16 pages and counting). I happen to think Hagler was the better MIDDLEWEIGHT. Close but clear. Lots of film against higher caliber opponents to back that up........All this because Hopkins beat Tavoris Cloud. Hopkins could probably beat the Tavoris Clouds of the world when he's 65. Doesn't make him a better Middleweight than Hagler. I'm done repeating myself. I respectfully disagree. Enjoy.
