He's still got time though, Jorodz. The gap is shrinking. He's still got time...

    Nothing to add to this.

And when they met at prime ages, Roy owned him.

One glaring problem with this theory: Hagler was **** at cutting the ring off.

Very much the Ben Tackie of his era in that regard.

Now, I'm going to need to see him beat Tavoris cloud in a rematch before I go picking Hopkins.

Roy Jones was better than Hopkins in his prime, but not by much.

Hopkins, always had the technique and basic fundementals in his style for a long career. Jones always relied on speed and reflexes. Once they evaporated he was in trouble. Hence, why Jones has been badly knocked out a few times and hasn't beaten the top level opponents that Hopkins has in his 40's.

Jones would have been more ruthless and spectacular in his prime if McClellan never ended up blind and 80% deaf. He openly admitted that the McClellan tragedy deeply effected him.

Jones had so much speed and power at super-middleweight and light-heavyweight it was crazy what he could have done to a few opponents had he wanted to. I always got the idea that Jones liked to put on a show, rather than be very bad.

I have to disagree and say that RJJ's footwork, balance, knowledge of ring generalship, counter-punching mechanics, punching form, parrying ability, directionality of head movement, were all fundamentally sound. It was only his guard that was unconventional, and he used it to his advantage by feinting and baiting. The problem was that the disappearance of his athletic gifts were far too sudden, not gradual. The way he nearly out-pointed Ledbedev on points with not much more athleticism than some leftover speed speaks to his boxing skill.

You touched on something by mentioning RJJ`s dominance... While he was in his prime, nobody came close. He didn`t lose rounds, much less fights. Only Montell gave him some issues and look what he did next timne out. And RJJ unfortunately beats BHop everytime out, prime RJJ that is. Hopkins incredible longevity however has tightened the race...

Wow ! Ben Tackie ?? You need to go watch more films. Watch some of his fights before he won the title, or his systematic dismantling of Sibson, Scypion and Obel. Or the boxing lesson he gave Briscoe after he got butted and sustained a potentially fight ending cut.You need to actually watch and see what a good boxer, with lateral movement Hagler was when needed. Plodding never a champ Ben Tackie ???Basically uncrowned champ for two years, champ for 7, and he`s the Ben Tackie of his era ? Thanks for the education :)

Roy looks more dominant over inferior competition mate.

Hopkins labours to a UD against a guy like Easterman, and Jones knocks me out in 12 seconds (only because I elect to stick and move :bart) who has the better win?

Hopkins has longevity, and more importantly, resume over RJJ.

Man for man do you think its really superior?

or are you counting Roy's late losses more than I would?
