Pretty much agree with that, although throw in Sugar Ray Robinson and you have the top 3 for me. BHop and Marvellous Marvin are very similar in many ways as are their careers. Both blue collar, took a long time to get the recognition they deserved and as a result both were accused of having 'chips on their shoulders'. I think Marvin's workrate would be to much for Bernard though and he would win a fairly wide ud, the 15 round distance would also have suited Marvin better.
Hagler's 5"9 hopkins is 6"1 not sure what the reach difference is. I see it being a close entertaining fight that could go either way. While Hagler ranks higher atg as a middleweight, I think Hopkins would stand as good chance as anyone.
You make soom very good points. Halger was a cardio machine but I think Hopkins style would have made him a better fighter had he fought 15 rounds. He cetraintly wouldn't have lost to Taylor .
One of the closest matchups you could imagine. Other than Tarver which southpaws has Hopkins fought? That is important. Hagler was before my time so my guess isn't as good as many others. I don't see either many giving in and it could depend on how one scores a fight. I can't give a definite answer.
Off the top my head Calzaghe, Winky, Tarver, Allen and I think Keith Holmes. While not great they are all excellent southpaws. Hopkins done well against all of them.
got to go with b- hop. i don't think b-hop has ever lost to a man smaller then him. and i have a feeling this would be a war. but b-hop would be very big to what hagler was used to. 6'1 mw vs a 5'9 mw. not just that but hopkins is a very smart fighter. i think hagler would be posed with an inigma . and would lose a ud 116-112
I think it would be similar to his Mugabe fight and Marvin taking him out late. I also believe Thomas Hearns at his peak would KO Hopkins in 3 rounds.
