Kessler at his best had very sharp rapid combination punches and excellent footwork, but as we saw in the Calzaghe fight had trouble adjoosting his gameplan. Hopkins might have a few rough early rounds but I he's one of the smartest fighters of the last few decades and I certainly see him adapting to Kessler and beating him to a UD.

Circa 97-02 Hopkins would have an easy night with Kessler.

    Kessler is FAR too basic.

Nothing in Kessler's career to suggest he could beat a prime Hopkins.

    1. You said both at their best but you picked a clearly faded version of Kessler-the Froch version.

    2. I don't see it as being nearly as easy as the Pavlik fight for Hopkins but I think Hopkins' ring IQ will see him pull away a clear victory over him by a 116-112 type decision. Kessler would be a tougher challenge going from middleweight to super middleweight for BHOP than most of his middleweight victories but he would find him predictable enough to overcome Kessler's excellent timing, good speed, very good strength and mastery of fundamentals. In a way, Kessler's fundamentals-first style is perfect for BHOP to dissect. He'll take his best away from him as the fight wears on. You can't be as basic as Kessler-even if you've taken the basics to the highest level, as he did-and beat the best Hopkins.

Kessler is a tough SMW, i doubt that Hopkins who was at his best @160 would stop Kessler, most of Hops KO wins against elite fighters were significantly smaller than Kessler.. I also think that Hopkins would respect his punching power..

Kessler. Mainly because Hopkins couldn't beat Taylor.

Well.. I think that many may argue that it wasn't the best Hopkins, but Taylor probably came the closest to beat a prime Hopkins..

I am a huge Kessler fan but i think he would struggle to win a round against BHOP
