let him get by this bunch of Marciano's L-HW contemporaries and forerunners first, before he even dreams of stepping up to HW.

Chase, Lytell and others on the Row, others yet that I'm forgeting or don't know enough about - Shucco, Lenhart and so on it goes... and btw in the 1940s Bhop would be every inch a L-HW cum HW. so it's an honest reckoning stating he'd have to get by many these fighters and more to see 'IF' he even finds himself among them.

It's a realistic match up as Marciano defended his title against a small LaStarza , an ex light heavyweight in Charles, an ex middleweight in Cockell and another ex light heavyweight in Moore .. that said I like Rocky

 

I think that version of Charles was formidable. Particularly the one from the 1st Marciano fight.

 

But all of those men, proved themselves at heavyweight.

None of them, hid behind any sort of weight limit!

If Primo Carnera had wanted the title, then he had to go through them, before he even fought Marciano!

 

Sure I'll give you a quote, this one was right before he fought against Marciano.

Kinda fits since he lost all that weight and was re-motivated in recent fights

 

He seemed a bit sloppy and desperate. Not as calculating as he was in earlier footage. Too proactive, not reactive. As though his reflexes were on the wane.

 

I must have missed the Carnera relevance since I haven’t read the thread , only responded to the topic question.

 

Hell no, I agree Hopkins still doesn’t stand a chance even at light heavyweight

 

And lost his 2 previous fights ?

 

Can we assume that Marciano would only take this fight after Hopkins hit 40?

 

My point is not that Hopkins would win. Mine is that he certainly could belong in the ring w him. To me it is more realistic to see Hopkins matched up against Marciano than to see Marciano matched up against acTyson, Foreman or a Lewis.
