I think Bernard is gonna win this fight. He's been in the ring with better fighters and has beatin better fighters, I think the Roy Jones fight was a smoke screen, and him not looking good IMO had to do with him not really interested as much as he would of 8yrs. ago because he knew Jones wasn't the same, but just wanted to get the fight over and done. Remember Hopkins also didn't look good against Muard Hakkar, so don't let that fight fool you.

I have a feeling this fight is where you will see Hops struggling quite a bit. Gonna be a tough fight, I still have to go for Hopkins though.

I'll actually answer the question this time around. I'll favor Pascal in a close decision. However, I would like to point out Hopkins looked far better against Hakkar than he did against Ornelas and Jones recently.

Pascal is not without faults, he fights only in spurts(but explosively), his stamina is questionable, keeps his hands down at times and he doesn't really counterpunch. Having said all of that, like I said, I'll favor Pascal by a close decision.

Pascal is stronger than ever. Fact. Ask David Lemieux who sparred with him in Miami.

    Pascal UD, 8-4.

Hakkar is also more limited than the jones Hopkins fought and Ornelas, that you also have to consider. And Hopkins was also younger, of course he's gonna look quicker but he's still good enough to beat the best. If Pascal wins a close decision, don't be suprised if the judges favor him because where there fighting, remember B-Hop has been shaded in close fights in the past and being that he'll be in his hometown, he might have to dominate him to get the decision.

    Really? I wasn't aware.

    Just kidding.

I had considered it. But the fact is, Bernard did what he was supposed to do against a guy like Hakkar. He obliterated him. Hakkar was never in the fight and was ****ed up throughout the fight.

Bernard is old now. He looks old. He fights old. Kudos to him for being able to stay up at this level for this long. But those fights against Jones and Ornelas were atrocious. He did what he had to do, but he definately looked better against Hakkar, which you claim he looked bad in, than he did against Jones or Ornelas (who you would probably regard as limited as well, though he has more in his game than Hakkar for sure).

Kind of funny, just did a quick search on boxrec and there hasn't been a fighter named Sean Pascal to box. Anyway, I'll probably take Jean Pascal....still undecided though.

He also fought old against Kelly Pavlik and Calzaghe. The problem is, he was a better fighter than any of those guys fought, that's why they didn't look good and I thought he won the Calzaghe fight and the Pavlik fight, his foot speed looked diminished but he still dominated him. When you have a great boxing brain the way he does, and have perfect technique, age isn't gonna affect you as much as someone who relies on speed or has been threw many wars and is why B-hop has lasted as long as he did. But we shall see.

Sean will get ko'd probably early. I mean this is his pro debut, and although Hopkins is old he is still way too good for a guys first fight :patsch

No one doubts his brain. And I don't think anyone doubts that he CAN beat Pascal. It's just a matter of will he. Everyone knew Hopkins could beat Taylor, but he didn't (save possibly the first fight).

I don't think the Pavlik comparison stands to reason here. Pavlik and Pascal fight nothing alike and have different strengths and weaknesses. There are a number of reasons that you could point to for Hopkins thorough domination of Pavlik, and like I said, Pascal's not exactly a perfect fighter either. However, I would be far more shocked if Hopkins had that kind of a dominating fight against Pascal.

He's shocked everyone before in the past, I'd say, why doubt him again, he loves proving the public wrong, the guy lives for that. So him being an underdog, isn't a bad thing and people should check his track record for that.

Bernard has to win 7 rounds in Montreal (KO not gonna happen).

But we know that 4 rounds Bernard will take off due to his age/gassing.

So he's spotting Sean Pascal 4 rounds and he needs 7 rounds and he's in hostile territory in Montreal.

    It's an uphill struggle.

Then again, never bet against Hopkins...
