Very close fight in my opinion. The Leonard who faced Kalule was much fresher and had superior physical gifts than the one who fought Hagler. Interesting. If he and Hopkins were naturally the same size, however, I think Leonard would beat him more impressively than he did Benitez. Maybe something like 9-3/10-2.

you guys don't understand that hopkins wasn't always a 40+ year old fighter. he's got the height, reach, strength, and size on leonard at 160. he also has better defense than anyone leonard ever faced (no disrespect to the great people he fought) and a good arsenal of skills and versatility. he can wrestle, box, fight dirty, just no. Leonard is great but a 160 he doesn't beat hopkins.

    Hopkins.

If you take Hopkins from the trinidad fight, he's 31. Same age as Leonard from Hagler; however Leonard hadn't fought in 3 years and the last fight he fought in he got KD by a NOBODY and he had to bide his time to take Hagler on the slide; it was ALSO his first venture up to middleweight.

    Hopkins.

boxing for 20+ years, never been knocked out, only down in two fights (both he went down twice and fought back to gain a draw and then won the titles in the rematch), only been in danger of being knocked out twice (both against the men who downed him who he went on to beat), goes whole fights without taking a meaningful punch on a routine basis, fights guys faster than him, stronger than him, bigger than him, and younger than him and still neutralizes their offense, and doesn't even throw a ton of punches to make them hesitant to throw punches of their own. give credit where it's due, and tell me someone else who does this to people who are FASTER than him.

I thought he was 36 when he fought Tito.

SRL is far the better overall package..

BUT .. Hopkins was never a real MW and would be too big for SRL I think.

Hopkins was 36 at the time of the Trinidad fight, but just shows you how people forget that and continuously mention the Taylor fights (when he was 40) as proof of Hopkins shortcomings.

I've never rated Hopkins that much. He tended to win a lot of his fights by mauling and fouling. In a fight with solid ref to clamp down on all of that, I think Leonard has a very good chance of pulling out a win.

Hopkins was 36 when he fought Tito, not 31.

UD Leonard. His speed and mobility would keep BHop off balance. Not an easy thing to do, BTW.
