Sugar wins this decisively. Styles make fights, and Hopkins had trouble with opponents who had great handspeed. Too many punches coming all at once, so he can dodge the first, the second, maybe the third, but after that some punches are going to get through. And Hopkins has been floored 4 times, including twice in his prime.

While robinson had more natural ability than hopkins, i feel hopkins was more of a strategist and probably more ring-wise. It would definitely be a tough fight and could go either way, but I would give the the close edge to hopkins. The competition he faced was not the same quality as robinson faced but he is more proven at middleweight.

Robby was definitelty in the top 5 at least in the middleweight divisions history and he is generally considered to be the greatest pugilist pound for pound.

However, his best weight was welterweight, a weight at which he had very few peers. At middleweight he was past his best. Robinson was the better fighter but hopkins was the better middleweight.

At middleweight, a weight where robby was past his peak i would pick b-hop to win 6 out of 10 fights.

So many ways SRR could take him.

A shirt unseen hook a la what SRR did to the tank, Gene Fullmer.
Or swarm BHop a la the lesser Calzaghe.

So many ways. 9 out of 10X, at least, it' s the #1 P4P man here.

Speed keeps anybody on the defense though. You still have to land effective punching to beat someone and Jermain Taylor and Calzaghe didn't throughout their fights with him and it's reason I still thought he beat them. And Robinson doesn't have Taylors height, reach, or long Jab. And Robinson isn't a southpaw with a unstoppable punchout like Calzaghe. Bad comparisons.
