Hopkins was great and consistent but he is no athletic or skill match for the great SRR...his only chance is to catch him late but IMO the fight would not be near as physically draining as his fights with LaMotta......I guess the real question here should be which phase of middleweight for SRR are we talking the fading one or the best version? my opinion is based on the best version

I wouldn't say Bhop wasn't athletic enough and he is in great condition..Hopkins would have his hands full .. but so would SRR with Bhops style ,, The jab and grab and the caginess of Bhops infighting could present problems … I like Hopkins

Great match this. Robinson is one of only middles i'd take over Hopkins. At his 160 best (and he need not be close to 160 to be his 160 best) i think his handspeed and greatness would take him to a decision win. He'd do the same to Monzon, Hagler, Zale and the rest of them for mine too. Resume wise there are guys ahead of him at 160 as obviously Robinson spent so much time at 147 and also fought at 160 well past his best leading to inconsistency etc comparative to guys that spent their career there and also got out at the right time. He still has some fantastic wins there tho.

Yes. Around 50-51 SRR is the H2H 160 GOAT for me which goes to show what a ridiculous talent he was.
