You will see a different Hopkins to the one you saw today if he ever fights Kessler. Hopkins will go back to fighting in patches and will lose rounds due to inactivity simply because he will have top be defending a lot more. His workrate will be like it was in the calzaghe fight. It's hard to land flush on Hop, but I think Kessler's crisp, accurate punches will at least force Hopkins to lower his workrate. Kessler wins this one imo.
True, but to be fair, he's only ever really needed to adapt once in those 36 fights and he failed to do so then. I don't think he'll get much better than how he is atm though.
Teke , DoYou think for one minute that three American Judges were all fooled by a Skinny Welsh lad fighting one of their ledgends in said ledgend's back yard , NO NO NO , If they could have found a way to give the fight to Hopkins they would have , Face facts Teke old son ADAPTABILITY has won Joe Calzaghe more of his fights than i care to remember he adapted v Hopkins where as Pavlik couldn't ..Ps well done on the prediction , Now all we need is for Lacy to best Taylor and Joe's stock will rise even higher than it is tonight in the opinion of any fair minded Boxing Fan :good
I'd favour Hopkins to lower Kesslers workrate dramatically and if he achieves this then the fight is his. He's got everything on Kessler even at this age. I shouldnt even be talking about this as a possible fight...he should retire
Nice one missing out the Split decision bit. Joe has a high standing in my mind but its just not in cloud 9 likes yours I had a wonderful thought today, actually it was a premonition. Roy Jones Jnr will convincingly beat Joe deal:deal This will send Joes stock to the shithouse
I don't see how Hopkins lowers Kesslers workrate. If Hopkins is to win, it'll be by countering him and makinf Kessler miss, it'd be an ugly win if it happens. Kessler's workrate would still be fairly high though imo. Hopkins wouldn't force him into retreat.
You should watch todays fight. Perfect example of how good movement can lower a fighters workrate. Noone in the whole wide world expected Nard to slow ole punching machine Pavlik down. Emmanual Steward even said he was shocked how good Nards movement was.
Didn't I already warn you about not keeping things in perspective?! Joe should win, but the fight wont really do much for his legacy. Joe has been going well the last few years, but he missed a big chance to become well respected by not fighting any superfights earlier on.
I honestly think if Hopkins fought like he did today he would beat Kessler. Kessler and Pavlik do have some similarities, as both rely on alot of straight punching and 1-2 combinations but Kessler would be better at 170 than Pavlik was, not sure that would play a big part in the outcome though.
Split decision Teke ? winning a split in Vegas v a Legend like Hopkins is a decent enough result (im sure Pavlik would be happy to take one at this moment in time ) lol Joe Calzaghe Proved he is teh best S/Middleweight out there by beating Lacy & Kessler ) and he fought this Hopkins fella at L/Heavy first time fighting @ Said weight to capture the RING MAG L/Heavy title , sotes i do rate him above anyone in the division presently . now we move onto RJJ ,If RJJ beats Calzaghe there will be no shame in it as far as Calzaghe's concerned as the whole boxing world will realise Roy's jmp up to Heavy gave his career a blip when he came back down . Roy Jones is a fantastic fighter probably the best in teh last 20 years so how would that make Joe Calzaghe any less impresive ? and send his stock to teh **** house ?
No no no brother. My power of positive thinking will get Roy the win, hopefully...maybe...please let it be so :yep
If Kessler fails to deal with Hopkins from the beginning, it's likely he'd lose because he isn't real good at adapting from what we've seen. Kessler does rely on his jab a lot, and imo, but it's more lethal than Pavlik's and Kessler's punches are more quicker and precise. He also showed during the calzaghe fight that he isn't too bad on the inside. Would be an interesting fight, probably not one thats pleasing on the eyes though, as it could very well be boring or ugly to see.
