I admire him for being, perhaps, the bravest fighter in the history of the sport. Nearly 44, already a legend with nothing to prove, he is willing to take on a 26 years old top 10 pound for pound undefeated fighter with 95% knockout ratio.
And this right after fighting the second best fighter in the world.
Usually people in Bernard's age just look to cash out against guys from their own generation, if they fight at all. B-hop ducks nobody, and nobody has ever dominated him in the ring after all those years.
I'll miss him when he is gone, he is trully a marvel, a once in a life time fighter: Without half the natural talent of a Roy Jones he developed the art of war and became maybe the most crafty and skilled fighter since Sugar ray Robinson and Ali. B-Hop, you are a top 10 fighter pound for pound in the history of this sport, the best in the last 20 years, and I don't give a **** what the haters say !

His best win is a young Glencoffe Johnson.

You my friend are ******ed if you think hes up there with SRR or even Ali.

You must feel that way, for having Bernard in your top5 MW ATG.. when he's never won against another MW ATG.

    Mad respect to Hopkins. Look at these guys that he's fought since the age of 36;

    Felix Trinidad(28, undefeated, top 5 p4p fighter)

    Oscar De La Hoya

Jermain Taylor 2x( undefeated, prime fighter, number 2 man in the division)

Antonio Tarver(Fresh of wins of Jones and Johnson, top man at 175, top 10 p4p fighter)

Winky Wright(hadn't lost in almost ten years, top 10 p4p fighter)

    Joe Calzaghe(undefeated top 5 p4p fighter)

    Kelly Pavlik(prime, undefeated, top 10 p4p fighter)

Assuming that Pavlik will be the favorite, Hopkins will have been the underdog in all of those fights except the Hoya fight and the two fights with Taylor.

Then prove me wrong and justify having him mentioned with SRR and Ali?!

    You can't... you simply can't.
Don't tell me I'm a hater, I'm a realist.. I actually spot the facts.. he raped two welterweights and claimed his fame, but they're vastly over rated, his best win IS Glencoffe Johnson.

Well this is one of the best performances you will ever see. who the hell has ever dominated Glen Johnson ? against B-hop, he lost every minute of every round and was stopped, the only time in his career.
And I remind you, this is the same tough son of a gun that won every minute of every round and knocked the **** out, eastsideboxing idol, mister ducker himself, Roy Jones Jr.
Besides that, beating the undisputed lightheavy champ at 41, beating an undefeated three division champ in Tito, and the being the only fighter to beat Winky clearly, are better wins.
Ali didn't lose to Fraizer clearly. Sugar Ray didn't lose to La Motta ? B-hop lost only one fight clearly, and that was when he was very green.

I'm immensely impressed by his Glencoffe Johnson win, and I think he could've had an even better career than he did. He is a legend, and a definite HOF'er, but he's not up there with SRR or Ali.
Mind you, Hopkins is one of the smartest guys in the business, he picked Tito, DLH, Tarver and Wright in just the right time.. he's a genius, he knows his shiet.

I'm not a hater, I'm actually a Hopkins fan, but I am realistic about this.. mentioning him with SRR or Ali isn't justifiable.

He's taken a fight that he believes he can win. I see pathways for him to win and really worry about Pavlik.

Look man. It's always easy to forget the flaws of the fighters from 40 and 50 years ago. we tend to be nostalgic and remember only their glory moments. I can tell you one thing about B-Hop, he aged better than Ali and Sugar Ray Robinson combined, altough I agree that in their primes they were better. But I didn't say B-hop was first or second ever, "only" in the top 10, and I may add, lower top 10.
