What do you mean 'somehow'? You're coming across like you give kovalev absolutely zero chance of winning, what's the point in doing that as a Hopkins fan? It completely destroys any credit Hopkins would get from the fight as if he wins then Kovalev had zero chance anyway in your opinion, and if he loses then he's lost to a guy who should of had no chance.

I'm picking kovalev to win but I still believe Hopkins could pull it off.

Kovalev won't have a 41 year old Hopkins in front of him but a 49 year old Hopkins. That is significant, a 41 year old Hopkins would have had too much for Kovalev but there has been significant decline in the last 8 years.

Also Kovalev has better footwork than Tarver and a more varied attack, he's also far more aggressive he won't sit back and try and counter like Tarver did.

I'm favouring Kovalev not because I think Kovalev is some kind of wrecking machine that is head a shoulders above everyone else but because Hopkins is now slower than ever and hasn't impressed me since Pascal. I think father time has caught up with him this time, I hope I'm wrong but even Hopkins can only beat the ravages of time for so long.

If Hopkins does it and beats Kovalev, expect a lot of excuses and the same old "Kovalev is a nothing but just another plodder who never had hope!".

In the likely event Kovalev wins you lot will be making excuses like "Kovalev only won because Hopkins was old"

I would hardly call elbowing KOvalev in the nose, eyes and throat an asskicking.

While the ref looks at the cuts and says...TKO for Borenard.:patsch:patsch:patsch

    Rums,
Why are you such a big BHop fan? Even though I'm an old man & so is he, I'll be rooting for Kovalev to retire Hopkins. I've seen enough of his BS tactics in the ring.

Please don't let our difference of opinion about BHop destroy our friendship!;)

I hope Hopkins get out of that one in one piece. But I don't think so.

Do you really think we'll see BHop stretched out prone on the canvas?:huh

Somehow, it seems impossible to imagine.

Krusher doesn't have the jab to do it but has the power.

You need a solid jab to beat Hop.

JETS, even Golota himself is a big Hopkins fan as you may recall!
    :good

I always liked Hopkins when I saw him fight during the late 90s, and I remember when the middleweight tournament with him and Trinidad started, I was telling everyone who would listen that Hopkins was going to win that tournament, and everyone said I was crazy after what Tito did to Joppy.

But I became a really big fan of B-Hops after the Trinidad fight, and honestly, having been downtown Manhattan on 911, with that fight being postponed in NYC following the terrorist attacks, he just became a favorite of mine the way he put on an exhibition against Felix, and I've grown to like his style more and more with each passing year since.

You never forgava Hopkins for what he did to Pavlik, did ya?

    ;)

How on earth could you give the decision to Calzaghe?? He didn't land 20 LEGITIMATE scoring punches all 12 rounds. Plus he got put on his ass:rofl:rofl Nothing fake about that low blow was a DELIBERATE foul from a welsh coward

I don't think your prediction is wild or something, I can definitely see it happening, Hopkins is crafty as **** and Kovalev isn't exactly the best boxer in the world not to mention he does have some chin issues and it wouldn't even surprise me if Hopkins TKO'd him. However, I can just as easily see Hopkins' age finally catching up to him against a younger, hungrier champion with Kovalev breaking him.

I can't make a prediction on the winner of this fight I can just see multiple scenarios that may happen but I'm not sure which way it will go in the end.

Undoubtedly, IF, Hopkins is gonna win, it's by DQ or TD due to him crying foul every time Sergey lands anything remotely suggestive as a foul.

So yeah, as to Rummy's OP .....IF.....HOPKINS win, and bwo some cheating.....Im sure there'll be more than a few whining.

But if the fight is clean or even close to clean, KOvalev KHTFO inside 5 rds, and everyone will be happy with the result.:thumbsup
