Have you seen a calzaghe weigh in before? calzaghe is always smiling and joking in their face etc, nothing new in what he did tonight, bernard though was quiet! Against kessler he joked, laughed and smiled thats what joe is like relaxed and at ease, he will go to work Saturday THEN its business and the other side of him takes over. Hopkins though was quiet
Its a good point! but would 100,000 seem that much to him to give up just to be able to get a push in or something more!
No. i picked Joe over Lacy and also Kessler albeit in what i envisioned to be a closer fight, of which it was. Saying that moderate punching Calzaghe is not going to stop, solid chinned, evasive, Hopkins seems quite moderate to me. your fanboyism is childish.
It tells you all you need to know mate! Ignorance is something ive found a lot of on here, not much contructive criticism or opinion about boxers/boxing a lot prefer to throw insults etc
Childish thats a bit rich really! I mean come off it insults dont really push a view on boxing they just make the person throwing them sound well very childish. As for opinions, as we are here for that are we not? I would hardly call Hopkins evasive! strong yes, experienced yes and also dirty, but evasive would not be something I would attribute to hopkins.
He is the definition of evasive. Bernard just doesn't get hit flush. When's the last time you've seen Bernard hit with the kind of uppercuts Calzaghe got hit with vs. Kessler. And Calzaghe doesn't get hit too much, so that says a lot about Bernard's elusiveness.
yeah, I think it was 300K In any case, it's a ridiculous amount, especially for a push... hell, Barrera and Morales have thrown mighty punches at each other, same with Mayorga and Paquita de la Barrio.
I stand corrected. Still, it should be pretty obvious to these turds that keep asking "why didn't Hopkins do anything?" They would rather believe he was scared or nervous.
Kessler was an excellent puncher, and did catch joe with some lovely uppercuts, and most were saying once kessler connects joe will be finished but Joe has a granite chin as does hopkins Hopkins tends to be more tough than evasive he does get caught, he got hit by some lovely punches by Taylor and didnt evade much that night, but Taylor just goes walkabout in both his mind and in the ring the guys an illusianist who dissapears for a few rounds then reappears. He didnt maintain his attacks he caught bernard and looked good at times but like I have said on here previously calzaghe will keep throwing leather when he connects with bernard. Calzaghe will catch him and the difference is calzaghe wont then back off or go walkabout he will smash more in. And Hopkins wont evade them
Even your average ****** could see that there was no fear in Hopkins. This guy grew up in North Philly, went to the clink for 5 years, has been boxing professionally for 20 years and has been in countless championship fights. Remember, this is a guy that threw the P.R flag on the ground, in PR. No way in hell he would be scared or nervous at a weigh in against Calzaghe.
Ummmm.. Maybe because he got fined ALOT of money for doing what he did?? Just like in baseball when your a pitcher and you hit a batter you get warned and if you hit him again your out of the game and get fined. DUH
Well he shouldnt run his mouth off and then not deliver, he has been going on about "its not the weigh in yet" and " thereis still time the weigh in hasnt happened" ohh and this gem "look at calzaghes body language" And what does bernard do absolutely nothing, so if he WAS fined for the winky wright incident and didnt even intend doing the same again, he failed in intimidating calzaghe. Joe was even smiling knowing he was already in bernards head. Like joe said "dogs that bark dont always bite! " Joe also said "you can be the bad man in the lead up to this fight but beleive me ill be the bad man in that ring on 19th"
