Hopkins gave Taylor the beating (that WOULD'VE been what ruined him) in the 1st fight, but Taylor came back and did much better in the rematch. This is a ludicrous claim, Bernard is a genious when it comes to the sweet science but he seems quite deluded in some aspects of the real world.

Because Bernard has everything figured out, don't you see? He's also responsible for Carl Froch's current success, because by losing to Calzaghe, he sped Joe's retirement, clearing the way for Froch. :nut

i can kind of see your point

a fight with bernard puts a lot of wear and tear on you because of the way he fights, lots of punches to the hips, at times dirty tactics on the blind side of the ref, brillient inside with those 6 inch shots plus he gets to fighters with his mind games. many fighters haven't been the same after they fought hopkins (joppy, tito, winky, tarver) and taylor fought him twice

however taylor still has those problems even without the hopkins fights

I think Taylor was moved along too quickly by his greedy promoter. He never really settled into the pro game. He would have been better off under a promoter like Bob Arum, they are the best at bringing their fighters along correctly.

Taylor was never ruined, his problem was/is that he is good but was hyped to be great. He is a step below great and hype that cannot be backed up can lived up to is a heavy burden.

Pavlik really messed up Taylor. Hopkins did good for him, but Taylor never learned how to win fights with a strategy. His reflexes and skills so good he just went in there without a plan.

Taylor just broke down in the latter rounds...experienced fatigued fighters know how to tie a fighter up..none of which taylor did in his last fight. He just took a beat down on the ropes....that ain't got **** to do with B-Hop!

Taylor still does fight like an amateur. You catch him raising his glove in the air when he lands a clean shot. Even when he fights you can tell he is thinking about scoring. To me, he is just not a smart man. Thats all there is to it. He didnt listen to his corner in the Froch fight and he tried making his own decisions in the ring which were stupid and thought he could get away with just looking at Froch while erking around the ring when he took rounds 8 and 9 totally off. He did not throw **** those rounds and was content b/c Froch was not able to land on him. Little did this idiot know that Froch would GUN for him later in the fight b/c he was down on points. What idiot does not know that. Yet, he kept the same mundane pace and expected to get out of harms way like that. Taylor is just a victim of his hard headed idiotdoms. His corner gave him perfect advice and he did not follow through at all.

Taylor looked good in the Pavlik rematch. Pavlik almost went to sleep in the first fight so being KO'ed like he was and immediately asking for a rematch says a lot and I hope he gets his **** together and rematches what the Froch.
