That's the thing. Chad, being an extremely defensive fighter who also prefers to fight at a slow pace, won't provide that many openings. Unlike Pascal, he isn't brainless enough for B-Hop to takes easy advantage of.

    Intriguing fight.

I'm sick of writing off Bernard (and I'm a fan) but Dawson wins this IMO. It's a very close fight though and could go either way. I can't see Hopkins winning easily though, looks like he'll definitely drop at least 4 rounds then it depends how much Chad can capitalise in the others.

Very defensive, but as I said, Pascal didn’t struggle to land with his occasional sorties. So defensive minded, but not water-tight when he’s not able to anticipate. Plus he’s always been a sucker for a right hand. Johnson had consistent success with it.

Have to go for Hopkins, Dawson is an odd one, the talent IS there, speed, accuracy decent enough power and good movement, but he just doesn't use it, watching the pascall fight i wondered what the hell he was doing, I just think there is a disconnect somewhere between the raw ability and putting it all together, someone that mentally fragile will get ruthlessly exposed by a veteran ring general like Hopkins

Most Dawson fights you think "Why doesn't he do that more often?". He can't/ won't for some reason. When he was flavour of the month and people were calling for him and Calzaghe a few years ago I always fancied Calzaghes chances.

I hate to do this, but Dawson reminds me of Fraudly just on a much lesser scale, waits around too long, doesnt pull the trigger.

chad dawson by ko, think bernards punch resistance is going, was a few unsteady moments in the last 2 pascal fights and think dawson will land shots and they will be enough to take him out, really hope im wrong

As has been said, Hopkins to shut Dawson's workrate down to an even more pathetic level and win a decision. Never been impressed with Dawson as some others have said. I would see him at #3 P4P and think... "Really?"

i see chad as having the skills all there, but not the smarts and mentality to make the most of them.

He probably wishes he was as aggressive as cloud and took more chances to get more success. He may make the fight ugly and close early on.

I see bhops waited till he sure of dawson's weaknesses and hele know exactly how to take him apart now.

Unlikely, but there’s always the possibility Hopkins’ punch resistance has gone.

People need to wake up, and stop getting carried away with Bernard Hopkins. The only reason, anybody talking about him. Is because he's 46 years old, if he was 30 years old..? Nobody would be talking about him.

Because technically he's doing nothing special, his workrate is average, power is average, speed is goodish. He's not unbeatable, and because he is crafty and has kept himself in good shape all these years. He's basically been taking advantage of what's there today..? and has matched himself very smartly

People must understand, Bernard Hopkins did not chase after Chad Dawson. Chad Dawson, has chased after Bernard Hopkins for 3 years. I'm not saying Bernard Hopkins has ducked and avoided Chad Dawson, no infact yes thats what I'm saying.

Hopkins has nowhere esle to go, Chad Dawson stepped aside so Hopkins could face Pascal.

Bernard Hopkins is like batman, the only superhero. With no real super powers, but that's why he's always one step ahead of the other superheroes mentally. He thinks of every outcome, and leaves no stoned unturned.

    "And he knows his limitations"

"Hopkins knows he's up against it against Chad Dawson"

At this stage of his career, i think Chad Dawson is all wrong for Bernard Hopkins.

Bernard Hopkins has been saying he is "Special"..? If he pulls it off against Dawson, then i will call him special.

PK, you are one of the worst judges of boxing I’ve ever witnessed outside of the ****** room. Thank god you can’t start new threads.

Hopkins is an incredible example of how skills and smarts will generally beat more talented fighters. Dawson was chasing Hopkins? All Dawson was doing was beating up poorer versions of guys Hopkins had already beaten. Dawson, meanwhile, avoided Diaconu and Cloud so he could face said old men that Hopkins had already dominated.

Shut the **** up and learn some history.

To me, there's two reasons why Hopkins will win this, and they're blindingly obvious.

    1. Workrate. Hopkins is a master at throwing opponents off their plan, to the point where they don't know what to do. Calzaghe down from 90 punches a round to 60, Pavlik down from 70 a round to 40 etc.

Dawson throws.... what, about 40? With the way Hopkins controls range, even if he matches that workrate he'll be missing a lot.

    2. Ring IQ/Concentration. Dawson is easily confused and distracted during fights. Pascal had him befuddled with his postmarked right hooks and thudding left hands..... there was no orthodoxy to anything he was doing. Obviously Bernard is a more orthodox technician, his punches are incredibly hard to predict and his right hand lead will prevent Dawson from setting himself.

We saw in his first fight with Johnson that he struggles against pressure and good inside fighters.... alright, Hopkins is less likely to apply pressure than Johnson, but in terms of inside fighting is in a different league.

Unless Dawson boxes to a plan off the back foot he's absolutely no chance. Hopkins will take his jab away in a flash.... the reason why Pascal was able to land shots early was because they were from all angles, but eventually he was figured out.

Within six rounds I think we'll see Dawson a befuddled mess in the centre of the ring throwing next to nothing. Wouldn't surprise me to see Hopkins take him out in the late rounds, but a points win is the sensible and obvious pick.

I will be back making new threads soon enough..? Guess i got my swagger back.

Its clear you have gotten carried away, and you have bought into the 46 year old handicap.

You get no handicap in boxing mate..? Take Bernard Hopkins age away and analyse his fights technically.

He's nothing special, and Chad Dawson is all wrong for him at this stage of his career.
