It was obvious why Froch wanted Berrio - he could hurt his shakey chin with his power and could take Berrio's punches for long enough to stop him, with his chin. Berrio wasn't stupid, though. Froch would have been his nemesis. Froch wanted the easy way towards proving he was world class by beating Berrio, but Berrio isn't the man he has to beat to prove himself. Froch needs to fight a good boxer and prove that he wouldn't get tagged all night. Shakey-chinned or not, Inkin would have answered many questions about Froch, even if he had been stopped. Of course, ideally, Froch would fight a good boxer who also has a good chin - e.g. Bute, but he declined to fight him when he had the chance and outside Kessler and Calzaghe, no one comes to mind (I'm leaving Mundine out of this one). Of course, Andrade would be a test for anyone, but less so, perhaps, for Froch. Inkin, however needs Berrio. By beating Berrio, Inkin would prove his chin and boxing skills, just like Bute did. Berrio is the perfect fight for Inkin to test himself. How about Berrio, though? Well, Froch doesn't make sense, but Inkin does! Inkin's chin is not the best, we must assume, so Berrio would have a chance. By beating Inkin he would make a big statement. If I were Berrio's or Inkin's promoter, I'd try to make this fight.:good
I'd take it if I were Berrio also. I don't think Berrio has a glass chin at all, I think he's just a defensive lacking guy with an average chin. The shots he took from Stieglitz and Bute were stiff and both KO's came late. Froch though has serious power, he'd likely be the heavy favourite. Inkin-Berrio sounds good, get to chin check Inkin. The flipside is that both can be KOed by Berrio, as Berrio has serious punching power, probably the hardest in the division. The guy's underrated a little IMO, he lasted well vs. Bute, Stieglitz and sparked Stieglitz, KOed Mack, sparked Vanderpool etc. Andrade had to grind down Stieglitz, who's a decent fighter, Berrio landed a sharp shot and that was it, impressive. I think Stieglitz proved he wasn't a glassy chin vs. Andrade, so that makes Berrio's quick KO all the more impressive in a display of power. Another factor is that Berrio landed some bombs on Bute without Bute even blinking, that's an indication of Bute having an iron chin maybe, in which he should switch to a more aggressive style with his speed and accuracy, seeing that he can take a good shot, that's how he'd beat Andrade.
IMO, Berrio's chin is not better than B- at best. Bute is not really a big puncher. Neither is Stieglitz. Both have B to B+ power but that's it. I don't think Berrio is underrated. I have him as a good contender. He is tricky and he does punch hard, without setting up or planting his feet, so he's dangerous against anyone who doesn't have a better than very good chin.
Yeah, but B power kills glass chins immediatley. I also think Bute is a pretty all right hitter when he plants and lands flush. Nobody considers Berrio much at all, thus why he's underrated, his win column is pretty decent and all by big KO's.
Well, Berrio certainly has A level power! Because he doesn't set up like Froch does, for example, he is dangerous! If he only had a B level chin...
If only he had a bit more speed and skill, he'd be lethal as can be. His punching power is absurd. If Bute had that punching power with his speed and accuracy for example, he'd be unstoppable at 168, that's just an example of A+ real KO power.
Yep! Berrio vs Inkin would be an interesting fight. I for my part think that Inkin would either stop his one-dimensional foe in the later rounds or outbox him easily winning a wide point decision. However,Berrio always has a puncher's chance against any opponent. I would also bet my money on Froch against Berrio. Apart from his firepower Berrio only has very limited skills and talent. At times he fights as if caught in slwo montion. Stieglitz beat him quite easily in their first encounter, and I would never ever bet a single coin on Stieglitz against either Froch or Inkin.
Speaking of Berrio, I think the real problem with him is not so much his chin as the fact that he has no recovery powers to speak of, much like Edwin Rosario was in that regard. Both guys could take a decent whack on the chin, but once you landed a bomb on them they were simply GONE and there to be teed off on. As for Inkin I have no idea who he is and have never seen of heard of him, so I cannot comment on how a fight between the two would pan out. A Froch/Berrio fight however would be an explosive affair, one that is sure to end in a knockout... I`d favour Froch but he would have to fight cautiously against the Columbian as that Berrio sure can crack. Another fight I`d love to see but which I doubt will ever get made would be a Berrio/Miranda fight... two Columbian gunslingers with huge power and shaky whiskers would definately make for an exciting tussle while it lasted, which probably wouldn`t be for more than 4-5 rounds.
:good A made for TV fight that both should consider if they lose their next few fights. Although even if he loses to Abraham, Miranda could probably drum up fights with the same reward for less risk.
Nah! Inkin knows which side his bread is buttered on! His fight with Froch would have been his biggest payday in his entire career. By beating Froch he would have have enhanced his markebilty as well as his name recognition a lot. Beside he defeated Froch at the amateurs. Why they hell should he duck him?? Money is the name of this game.Inkin wants to earn as much money as possible in as short a time as possible. He is an experienced vet, undefeated, skilled, and dangerous. No,mate, quite the opposite he must be crying with anger, frustration, and desperation when he had to cancel his fight with Froch.
Very limited skills and talent? Nothing apart from power? I disagree. Berrio might not be very skilled or talented in an orthodox way, but his craftiness and deceptive style makes him dangerous against anyone but those with a better than very good chin and at least B- level general skills and qualities.
Deceptive style and craftiness?? Nah! He is a teak tough banger who has a puncher's chance against any rival out there, but his skills are only mediocre. He is slow,one-dimensional,an inmobile target who takes punch after punch.Of course he is no bum and takes out any lesser gifted opponent quite quickly. Nevertheless,he looks horrible whenever he is matched with a capable foe. Stieglitz easily beat him in their first encounter, and he would have done so once again in their second encounter if he hadnt been caught by a lucky haymaker. IMO Berrio cant hold a candle to both Inkin and Froch.Of course Berrio has a puncher's chance against both of them.
