Agree.

Also Cooper destroyed undefeated DeWitt, and beat #6 HW at the time, NABF HW champion and future CW world champion Orlin Norris.

I think Norris was better than Seldon, and certainly had better resume at HW.

Yes, Cooper had troubles vs big guys like Carl Williams, Bowe, Foreman, but they were much taller than Seldon, and hit harder too.

 

The only guy out them with a jab like Seldon was Williams though.

Foreman and Bowe had harder jab, just didn't use it as often :good

Seldon by the way wasn't very hard hitter, but his jab often did the damage.

He stopped Ferguson, Tucker, Hipp and few others on cuts with that jab.

 

Cooper had two things missing in Seldon: dignity and character.

 

I'm not so sure about that.

Well, at least he was never been knocked out by a gust of wind .... If you know what I mean.....

 

Quitting early against Foreman after a night of hookers and coke is not the mark of dignify and character.

Bert Cooper prime and focused was an exciting force to watch IMO.
Must go rewatch.

 

Interesting fight, I'll go with Cooper. Though Cooper had problems with fighters with good jabs, especially big fighters with good jabs, and Seldon has a good jab, he and Seldon are about the same size. I think Bert would be able to "reach" Seldon. That and I think Cooper is just a tougher man than Seldon, based on his wars with Mercer and Moorer.

 

Prime for prime this is an interesting fight and could end several ways.

Cooper would come out firing on all cylindars, and Seldon would look to move and box.

Seldon had mediocre stamina early in his career, which affected his mid to late round performances against Tubbs and McCall.

He got better in that department later, though.

Seldon would look for Cooper to slow his early rounds attack.

Then, he would trade a bit more.

This could be very dangerous for him, as his chin was below average.

Cooper, would likely slow down a bit.

I believe Seldon would survive some rocky moments to win a UD by a few points.

Cooper certainly had the firepower to take Seldon out, but prime for prime and if Seldon fights the right fight, he wins a decision.

 

Cooper, Seldon had eggshell chin & Bert could crack

 

I know Bruce had a dodgy chin but he has a fast good jab.
I actually think he stops Cooper in around 8 but really anything can happen here.
