Well in the case of quitting against Foreman that was a case where Bert was addicted to crack cocaine. He had been up 3 days straight going into the ring. I think when you look at his performance against Mercer and Holyfield that is more indicative of who he was. I'm not sure about Moorer being "light hitting". He had a powerful punch. Morrison used Ray Mercer as a heavy bag for 3 rounds then fell off a cliff. At this early stage of his career he was just wound too tight. A 3 round fighter. A nervous referee could benefit Morrison
Really? Holyfield knocked down Ray Mercer and Bowe and knocked out Tyson. He KO'd Douglas with 1 punch to win the title. Take a look at Moorer's KO % even at heavyweight. It's pretty strong.
I think Cooper KOs Morrison brutally within 5 rounds. I think Cooper eats Morrison alive. Cooper was very talented, excellent power and good stamina and a pretty good chin. He was just poorly managed, that and he was not the brightest bulb in the box.
Copper's "sneak" right hand finds Tommy's jaw early, and he's not the type that's gonna come back from that.
They hit hard enough! He quit against Foreman but wasn't stooped by the hardest hitter in the division that proves my point as far as his weak chin and the wars he had with two CHAMPION calibers showed both heart and tenacity. very hot and cold a strange man Bert but as stated when he was on he was on.
I agree with @ETM for the most part. There is a chance Morrison blitzes Cooper by starting faster and overwhelming him, or the other likely scenario is that Cooper hangs in there while taking punishment, but hurts Morrison too, with Bert's better chin seeing him in good stead and him getting Morrison out of there. I think the latter scenario is the one I'd go for, but it's touch and go for Cooper, I think. In this scenario he's on a bit of a role, so that version of Cooper is good enough to knock Morrison out. Probably somewhere between rounds 4-6.
I'd take Morrison with the caveat that Cooper could absolutely flatten him if he connected right. Tommy would have to avoid getting thumped until Cooper mentally gave up like so many times before. Cooper could very well have a win over Holyfield if things had played out slightly differently and that shows what he could do if it came together for him.
The best case for Morrision would be if he adopted a similar gameplan to the one he used against Foreman. Basically get off first and vacate the area, even turning his back at times in the name of safety. It wouldn't work because Bert would be too inviting a target. Cooper times his punches between Tommy's more flashy flurries. At the end of the day this ends like Mercer/Morrison.
The 1991 version of Cooper that was off drugs and in shape, who beat Hipp and gave Holyfield a war, knocks out Morrison, one way or the other.
