Very true. He's fine for talking about "the good old days", but seriously, he's way off with current boxing. *******'s will use anyone's opinion that favors Pac I think though!

Again, noone is doubting his knowledge of the sport and its history, they're doubting his opinions. You can be the most knowledgable person in the world on a subject and still have illogical personal opinions of it. You don't need to know everything about the sport's history to know that Sugar is talking out of his ass when he puts guys like Gene Tunney and Ezzard Charles in his top 10 HW list, or puts together a top 100 like the one presented earlier in this thread.

Sugar has a vast amount of boxing knowledge in that head of his... but what thing he's always been **** at is ranking fighters... just take a look at that top 100 fighters of all time list and you'll see how far off the man is from the mark.

There's really no "correct" list per se, as everyone has different opinions, but Sugar's list is hardly even logical. You'll find many posters on this site (particularly the classic section) with better lists. Consult the poster sweet_scientist, as I know he has one.

Well, at least he doesn't rank Whitaker (arguably the greatest lightweight of all time with Duran, Leonard and couple more) at the 48 th spot and Hagler (arguably the greatest middleweight of all time) at the 47 th....

A little bold, but by no means ridiculous.

Buddy, you asked for top 100 and one of my pal from the classic section suggested sweet_scientist's, whose list is pretty decent according to many posters of the classic section myself included. And those very same posters also acknowledged Berts Sugar's list as being one the worst list EVER.

This looks more like his previous version of the top 100 - I'm pretty sure he elevated Mike Tyson much higher in a more recent version of the list, I know he's published at least two versions of the book...

Ridiculously bad. And Manny the best southpaw? Pacman isn't as good as Whitaker or Hagler in my view.
