No. It has nothing to do with insecurity. The claim is being challenged because it's illogical.

Yeah, unbelievable. You look at something like that and the entire list loses its credibility.

How old is that list? :think

If Pacquiao is the best southpaw of all time, as Mr Sugar says, why isn't he even in his top 100? :huh

Bert Sugar has always been a writer first and boxing historian second. He's pretty much second to none for spinning a good yarn, but anyone with a decent level of understanding of the sport should be able to see that when it comes to facts they come a distant second to myths where he is concerned.

Sugar is the type of guy that will tell everyone that Willie Pep won a round without throwing a punch because it sounds so fantastic, despite it being a blatant fabrication.

Pacquiao is not included in the ESPN Top 50 list while Morales and Barrera whom he defeated decisively are included. This baffles me. Even in the Top 100 that's presented here, he's not in the list. Is it because he is still active and creating legacy for himself?

Just one man's opinion. Sugar has always been a follower. I was into the Hearns/Hagler/Leonard/Duran era deeply and I knew all about them, and when I heard Bert Sugar talk he was saying nonsense and almost sounded like he didn't know what he was talking about. He was just mimicking what the normal sportscasters were saying so the general public knew him. Nice man. I met him in person, but I think he is overrated as a boxing expert.
