It is pretty obvious to anybody that Marquez's body didn't hold up the gain in weight. He looked very slow and he looked heavy. To chalk it up as only Mayweather being bigger, faster and more athletic overlooks the fact that Marquez is smaller, slower and less athletic than Pacquiao but at his proper weight had the hand speed to hold his own. Mayweather beats Marquez at any weight but it would be foolish to discount how poor he looked at that weight.
Duran and Mosley were big, strong lightweights who started their career at that weight. Marquez, while he is the legit lw champ, is really a career featherweight who's still only had 2 lightweight fights. Comparing his jump up to welter to that of mosley and duran isn't quite right. As for Bert Sugar, the guy just really loves to hear himself talk, it seems to me. The fact that he talks out of his ass half the time doesn't seem to bother him. The guy is a looong time follower of the sport, but while i respect his factual knowledge, i do not much respect his insights most of the time.
Good point, but not what this thread is about. This thread is pointing out how people will downplay Mayweather before a fight, as bert Sugar does here, then downplay his victory after he easily beats the person who was supposed to give him trouble. Bert Sugar sounds like Buxer or Bladerunner did before the Marquez bout, as well as after.
Burt sugar is a morron. He also knows how to sell a fight. Which is what he's doing. I mean **** he's saying MArquez fights like CAstillo, WTF. Its embarassing. As far as what he was saying afterwards about Mayweather choosing his opponents, again selling something.... Guys a joke.
It is just a case of Bert will say whatever he has to to sell the fight before it takes place. This fight was a farce, comparing a 35 year old Marquez to a young Shane or Duran is inaccurate.
Your posts are all the same, they really are. It's actually pretty funny reading your posts because they are so hectic, like any bad poster. You start on one thing then it's like you suffer a concussion half way through and you fill the rest of your posts with arbitary, irrelevant facts and uninformed opinions. That's why very few people who disagree with you, take you seriously. I can debate boxing with anyone. I like debating with guys who have different opinions but there's a core of poor posters on ESB like you, who are just impossible. I can't apply logic to your arguments, because you don't apply it in your own arguments, you know? So I think it's pointless talking to you. The only thing stopping you from being a horrible poster, is your grammar skills and you aren't too obnoxious. When you start forming well balanced opinions, you'll be a good poster, hopefully.
How is stating that JMM only gained 6lbs against Mayweather irrelevant then stating that the size difference between Mayweather and Mosley will be about the same? Thats what happens when you are so logically handicapped. I mean you said Mayweather would shut out Pavlik. Mayweather couldnt shut out Oscar. Yet he's going to shut out the middleweight champion of the world who is twice his size? I really think you say stupid **** to get a rise out of people. You cover up with your lack of boxing knowledge by trolling, being 100% on the wind up, nobody will ever take you seriously, because if they did they'd find out truly baffling you are as a poster.
Don't worry about it, mate. Pavlik's biggest weaknesses are speed and elusiveness. Mayweather is, combined, the fastest and most elusive fighter in the world. 20lbs does not make the difference when there is such a huge gulf in ability, but most importantly, styles.
Yeah against fighters who dont weigh less then him by 30lbs ******. Wlad Klitsckos weaknesses are speed and elusiveness, it doesnt matter when the guy he's fighting is a cruiserweight. :rofl Mayweather is not even close to being the fastest fighter in the world. Manny Pacquiao, Yoriorkis Gamboa, Andre Dirrell, hell even Andre Berto are all faster then him. Its his ability to place punches which makes him great. And even at his best, he still didnt shut out an out of prime Oscar De La Hoya, so how would he possibly shut out Kelly Pavlik. You see, in your little brain, you think because Bernard Hopkins was able to shut out Pavlik, Floyd could do the same, forgetting that Hopkins is now fighting at cruiser, has a 3 inch reach advantage and is nearly 5 inches taller. How would a bloated Mayweather get inside Pavliks jab giving up 4 inches in reach and 6 inches in height? Mayweather would be a plodder at that weight, he'd no longer have his legs to get away or to dodge punches. He'd have to be James Toney, except he doesnt have the strength to stand in the pocket against guys twice his size. You just dont think.
