In a recent ESPN sports Chat long time boxing historian Bert Sugar claimed Manny Pacquiao as the second best fighter of the post Morales generation, after Juan Manuel Marquez. Bert Sugar: While it is never been my habit to include a fighter who is still fighting, because I can not judge his entire career and/or where his prime was (his prime is where I judge) I think Manny Pacquiao is making one helluva case to be included. This content is protected But I will wait until I see where his next fights take him. I will wait on Mayweather. And, depending on July 18, Marquez, as i've always said Pacquiao's good, but Marquez is better. Source: This content is protected
I think they are on par with each other as i had JMM winning both fights, but they where very close and you could argue the result either way.
Sugar said "depending on July 18" to qualify his declaration that Marquez is better than Pacquiao. He's therefore speculating, but he's more of a clown than anything.
A highly opinionated clown with hat & a cigar...he's very wrong here, Pac is the better man and would get the Marquez ****** off his back decisively if they met a 3rd time IMHP.
Yer. I saw that in his other thread and was just like 'WTF' when I read his comment in this thread. It's a classic case of pac-tardism. A severe brain condition resulting from too much exposure to Pac's ball sack. It causes major rotting of the brain and the sufferer will make all kinds of ridiculous, contradicting, unknowledgeable posts on boxing boards across the world.
There both good but is Manny is on the verge of greatness he gets better and better with each fight and that is a sign of true greatness..JMM is a litle older and time is more favorable to Pac...
i think there about even, but say for instance marquez loses a decision to floyd, something like 115-113 or 116-112....and pac goes on to get massacred by floyd.....then yes bert is correct...you would have to say 1. floyd....2. marquez....and 3. pacquiao..... pacquiao uses superb speed and power.....marquez IS the smarter fighter, and more technically rounded. sure pac has made improvements, but will never be as polished as marquez in the fundamentals.
I think Pac has raised his game another notch since he last fought Marquez..the momentum is on his side if he ever fights Marquez again..another decision, probably to continue the tradition of scoring a knockdown over JMM as well.
