Berto blames Floyd for low PPV's

Agreed. Berto should shut up and be happy he got the payday and exposure over more deserving fighters.

Floyd's fears were eating him up inside. He barely mustered the will to "fight" Pac and he had near-heart attacks with every Pac connect. The fight put such a strain on his heart and nervous system, May simply had to take it easy in his last contractually obligated fight. So he picked me, a guy that was never good to begin with, and was coming in after 3 loses against average/below average opposition. People knew I couldn't hurt him and since people mostly watch the fights for a chance to see him lose, they decided not to buy the ppv".

 

Berto brings less to the table with direct income to the event on his being there than any other opponent Floyd has faced on PPV. Ever. Less than Baldomir (compare Floyds' popularity and ratings to the guys he fought before Baldomir to the popularity and ratings of the guys he fought before Berto; ratio favors Baldomir).

It was clearly a cupcake fight to rack up another W, collect another huge check, and not go out on a note connected to the Pacquiao fight. The angles of the sell were "his last fight" and "tying Marciano at 49-0." That's pretty much all there was for him to do left. I expect him to sit out 2016 and return in May or September of 2017 with the angles of the sell as "going for 50-0 to break Marciano," "one last return fight," and "old vs. new, possible passing torch." Because, well, that's now all there is left for him to do.

 

He made 4 M probably more than his entire life.

Berto got more exposure in this one fight that in all his fights combined...including amatuer. He really doesn't have anything to complain about. But, he's right in a way. The Pacquiao fight created so much anticipation over the span of 5 years, that nothing else compares to it. A rematch wouldn't even compare to it.

Most of the casuals who bought that Pac fight or spent a grip to be there live wouldn't ever put that type of money up again or have that level of interest again in boxing.

That fight transcended boxing and made a cultural imprint globally. Too bad it wasn't as good a show as the hype would suggest. But, it's not like people were not warned 5 years ago that it would be one sided, due to styles.

 

There should be a rematch between Pac and Roid ASAP, in neutral territory...................after Pac is healed from his surgery...................
