He doesn't look like Floyd in any aspect of the game and I think using that style will hurt his development ... He doesn't have much of a jab ... he throws his combonations with his chin in the air. He doesn't have any defense or good head and shoulder movement - his arms are way too short to do anything effective on the outside, especailly against a fighter who's stronger than him or taller & longer than him. He doesn't use his right hands to block jabs or to counter off the jab ... he just keeps it there by his chin ... he doesn't tuck his chin ... he's not very strong - I think his strength is overrated ... the lack of head and shoulder movement really kills me - he doesn't have much ring savvy. His chin isn't up there with the elite chins of the division -- Good he's a titlist but at the end of that fight last night - he shouldve thanked Floyd for retiring and giving him the opportunity to win a belt. To be honest Berto is a KO waiting to happen --
He keeps his left hand down ... Floyd uses his left hand to guard a body attack and he can twist and turn his body to neutralize the effect of most body punches. Berto's is overrated -- If he has the slightest thought about unifying titles - he should get that **** out of his mind because I know of former titlist that would knock his head off.
I agree that Berto is not ready by any means of fighting a Coto. I also go along with some of your other points. However, your "not much of a jab" statement is WAY off. He has a very heavy, accurate jab that he uses both offensively and defensively. His jab, in fact, is his most consistant weapon. It seems like you're just trying to throw every negative possible at this kid. If you're saying he hasn't much of a jab you're showing no objectivity at all and clouds all your other points.
I'd say he fights more like Judah. He relies on his super fast reflexes more than anything. His defense is nothing near the level of FLoyd. Offensively, the only thing in common with Floyd is his hand speed. AGain, I think he lets his hands go more recklessly like Zab Judah. Floyd is more measured with his punches. Just b/c someone has a little shoulder roll with fast hands doesnt mean they fight like Floyd. Floyd didnt invent the shoulder roll. There will be many other fighters who do it who will also have fast hands. It will not always mean they fight like Floyd.
He's got a bit of that shoulder roll going, vaguely reminiscent of Mayweather's stance. Other than that, I fail to see the resemblance.
