You holding him to those standards means that you are elevating him to the position that those standards apply.

He believes he's "the best ever." So he should be living up to that in his head.

If you don't believe he's "the best ever," why would you dare hold him to that standard?

His biggest detractors always seem to rank and view him higher than his seemingly more grounded fanbase when one reads explanations and rationale like this.

He's following the example left by Oscar, Roy, Tyson, and so on and so on before him and before them.

Mayweather didn't invent boxing and he's not the first superstar.

He's just the current superstar and he has gotten the majority of the sports' fans to get their panties all bunched up.

He has fought nothing but elite ranked fighters and even future HOF'ers for the last decade straight since entering a position of economic power after previously "working his way up" and "earning his dues" throughout his early career... I would hope that all fighters would want to follow in those footsteps!!

Example left by Oscar ,Tyson and Roy :huh

No you didn't just say that ..Oscar alone has a tremendous resume , Floyd's resumes doesn't t come close ..This is why Oscar captivated the boxing world not for hand picking guys that were favorable match ups ..

Tyson fought em all he actually wanted to prove who the best was and on top of that he was a KO machine ..Floyd is nothing like that

And all those so called elite fighters he's fought were all hand selected ,he didn't clean out divisions especially moving up from 130 ..Since then it's been a who's who of mid level guys ..Yes some of them are in the HOF like Gatti ,Like Oscar ,Manny, will be there maybe Mosley will be there one day but he never fought the best versions of those guys so all that ranking nonsense is just semantics because when he actually fought those guys they were either on the slide or past their best !
He maybe the only boxer not have a memorable fight but was paid handsomely for it ! None of the above mentioned have that on their resumes !

I personally don't want any up and comer to follow that model ..I prefer the guys to be like Delahoya And Tyson ..Not wait to face the best to lose a step but to Fight them when they are at their best..Win or lose !

I was going to give your response an honest chance.

But you literally know nothing, Jon Snow.

Anyone who dismisses opponents faced and resume with a blanket statement like "hand picked" will not get any more of my time than to type; "you literally know nothing, Jon Snow."

1st of all MEGALOLZ at Mayweather's 'grounded fanbase'. You holding yourself and the rest of your money team supporting chums to that standard show you are all as deluded as your hero- if indeed he does believe he's the best ever.

You and the rest of your Money Team fanboys are rather sensitive to criticism but you all need to get a thicker skin. You're going to be held to a higher standard when you declare yourself 'TBE'. It's just the way it is.

Are you unaware of how 90% of boxers view themselves based on what they say? If you are not, lets just say that almost every world class boxer flatters themselves to a lofty degree.

You must hold all of them to insanely high standards.

    Fair enough...

As for what I said you seem to be having issues. It appears most of his biggest fans do not view him as the GOAT. I have literally heard of a handful. But based on what many of his biggest detractors say when questioned about their opinions, they are the ones who view him by the standards of the GOAT. Yourself included, just a few moments ago. That's all I pointed out.

    Cheers.

The reason why Floyd hasn't gone for a big name like Khan, Brook or Thurman in his 49th fight, it's pretty clear why. He's obviously gonna fight again for his 50-0, against a big opponent, maybe a Pac rematch in 2016.

Because of the lawsuits against Haymon I don't think we get a Pacquiao rematch now. If he fights Berto in Sept then Khan and Thurman should fight in Nov or Dec and the winner gets Floyd for #50.

Those fighters weren't fighting just once or twice a year. Context moron.
