He looked the same to me. Which is ok considering he just came back from his first loss to fight a decent opponent. But nothing to rave about. Lucky for him the WW division is pretty weak, and he can remain on course to get that Ortiz rematch when he gets a beating from Mayeather.

He looked worst then before IMO, after the Collazo fight he was better but tonight he was just reckless. PBF and Pac would both stop him.

Berto looked like crap. Like he always does against anybody who has some idea of how to actually fight.

IDK what would've happened, he was doing better but Berto's shots were much heavier, there is a chance that Berto would've wore him down like he did Estrada.

Berto was good, but not good enough to be considered a threat to Pac or May..... Zaveck was on par with him the entire fight... Berto was left open wide to be hit.. and his defense doesn't looked like it improved an inch.. but nonetheless Berto still did what it took.... He hits hard and fast, was more precise and patient this night... He always has great offense but to think he truly improved is an overstatement... he's still in teh same boat as he was before to me

Berto didnt look great, but he is entertaining. I can see the Taylor comparisons, never though of it before. I do think he will be too big and strong for Randall though unless Randall can land something early

Some thoughts I had during the fight

-I was never a big Berto fan but damn he is fun to watch. He has explosive combinations and is willing to stand a brawl even though he has the skills to box and move.

-Berto is still open to get hit with big shots. His defense hasn't really changed since the Ortiz fight. Jan was landing hard punches but fortunately for Berto, he's not a power puncher. A power puncher would still cause many problems for Berto.

-I still want to see Berto vs Mosley

-I loved the interplay with Kellerman and Roy Jones tonight. I love Merchant but Kellerman is starting to grow on me a little bit. I love hearing Jones perspective on fights as well. I love how they feed off each other during commentary and how they'll respectively call each other out on things.

-I wouldn't mind seeing Jan Zaveck get another shot on HBO. He seems like a very crowd friendly fighter.

True. Hard to say in a fight like this. But as the rounds go on Berto would have been getting weaker and weaker, while Zaveck seemed to be doing fine, that's what I base my theory off of, and I believe we saw the beginnings of that in the last 2 rounds... with the fight being in such an early stage as well... too bad we'll never know.

Berto stopped a man who has never been stopped. He didn't wing his shots, he picked his spots. Zaveck was never in the fight. He fought with heart, but his face didn't hold up. That's the breaks.

For me he looked strong early, fast, crisp punches. He was a little sloppy/reckless, ate a lot of punches. Disappointing that we didn't get to see how he'd go in the late rounds.

Anyway, a W is a W, and now there's another potential Pac-Mayweather fight ruiner out there. Hopefully Berto is more interested in rematching Ortiz than getting destroyed by Pac and May.
