Seriously though if you are a world class fighter you should have a world class trainer and Berto obviously would rather pay this knucklehead peanuts than shell out big bucks for a world class trainer. if he wants to be a real champ he needs a new trainer. the **** his trainer was saying in between rounds sounded like someone who doesn't know much about boxing

I've only seen one corner worse than Berto's, and that was Allan Green's corner against Andre Ward. John David Jackson asked Green's brother to be quiet, "both of us can't talk at once"...Green's brother told Jackson to 'shut up', and "can't nobody tell me not to talk to my brother".

Did Berto receive a Lacy type beating?
(Meaning will he EVER be the same)

Berto needs a better camp to prepare him better for a southpaw. His efforts vs southy's are abysmal.

Cant say why he didn't win, except he can't fight SPs.

I will be the first to admit that I didn't think Ortiz had the heart for this game. He proved me wrong moreso than Berto proved his haters right.

his brother was obnoxious. The trainer should be the only one talking. Ortiz corner did an excellent job keeping their man positive. It all just came together for Ortiz, it was a beautiful thing.

I though his trainer was going to cry at one point.

Berto certainly DOES NOT need his Chris Rock looking brother in his corner. His corner man should have told him to STFU....how can a dazed boxer listen to 2 or 3 people shouting at him at the same time? Well, he can't.

Berto has some serious defensive liabilities that make for great fights, but will keep him from a title, unless it's some bogus belt. I mean think about him fighting Leonard or Hearns or Roberto Duran at 147...it would be a slaughter.

Yes, it was a great fight, though. The round where both guys got knocked down is a candidate for Round of the Year.

Berto still have a lot of potential, and trainer would do him some justice.

Strongly disagree, Berto ****ed up, he either fought scared or wild and reckless for the majority of the fight, in the 6th round before he scored the KD he was fighting perfectly, picking off Ortiz with very hard counters as he wildly charged. If Berto would've fought like that for the majority of the fight, he would've won. As for Ortiz, he could be pretty damn good but he is very reckless, I now see why he lost to Maidana, BUT if there is a rematch and Berto wins, we might see a trilogy.

How about Berto Vs. Williams in a HBO losers bracket match.
(Max Kellerman will give the winner a BJ & Lampley will cuff the sack)

    Special guest referee: Michael Grant

It wasn't anywhere near as one-sided as Calzaghe-Lacy (imagine Joe getting decked twice and badly hurt 4-5 times in that? :yep)

You may be right about it having a profound lasting effect on him, though. He probably bought into his own hype, considering all the big talk he threw around (especially Mosley's way, back before Mosley started his steep decline and was riding high off the Margarito win).

He might fade into bolivian. :think
