i think berto is overrated very exciting fighter but he got a gift dec in his fight wit collazo and if that fighter was mosely cotto or any top welter i think berto would have a loss.
Hell yes he's overrated ... will lose soon once he fights a fellow welteweight champion ... very hittable, suspect chin, suspect power.
couldnt agree more. to me his fight wit urango is an easy match for berto if he boxes cuz we all know urango style you can box against. to me he should redeem himself in better fashion against collazo cuz collazo deserves it thats 2 robberies against him hatton and berto
Unfortunately hes being moved along to quickly. He reminds me of Francisco Bojado, has a lot of talent, but hes being trained to try and take his opponents head off and throw caution to the wind.
He didn't gett a gift. I'm tired of people saying this. Anybody who actually watched the whole fight could see it could be argued either way. It was a 7-5 fight either way or a draw, personally I had it 114-113 Berto with the point deduction, therefore 7 rounds to 5. He's not the best by any means, he's still not ready for guys like Cotto and Mosley but he's improving. He has fantastic hand speed, his power is pretty decent, he's got a good right hand, utilizes uppercuts well, decentish reflexes, good stamina and I think his chin is better than given credit for.
He's not overrated. Noone is saying he's as good as the other champs He's still green anyways but he needs a better trainer.
:good People call it a gift as soon as the underdog gives a tough fight but loses a decision. 99% of close fights are called "gift" for those who dont like the winner. Very frequent here. Very moronic too.
i had collazo by one round and the difference in this fight is that berto was hurt and depending if you scored those rounds 10-8
When was he hurt? You can make an account for round 1 but I don't think so, he caught Berto a bit off balanced and he feel back onto the ropes, then covered up. That's all Collazo did in the 1st round, and Berto worked hard the other 2 and a half minutes so I ended up giving that round to him. Don't score 10-8 rounds unless they involve knockdowns. None of the rounds in that fight were one-sided enough to be classed as 10-8 rounds. See, you yourself said you had Collazo by 1 round. It's not as if that is the only possible score. It was a very close fight, Berto could just of easily of 1. And if you had Collazo by 1, you basically had it a 114-114 draw but with the stupid point deduction against Berto. Therefore it's hardly a gift or a robbery.
it seemed to me that berto's fight with collazo was very close and could have gone either way...i had collazo by 2 points, but, i think what rubs me and a lot of other people the wrong way is that there was, literally, no chance collazo would get the nod in a close fight...couple that with how overhyped and overrated berto seems and i get why people are mad, but it's not something that can really be put on berto, himself. i don't hate the guy, but the whole thing still kind of smells funny.
You guys are undercutting his performances against both Forbes and Collazo. I was (probably still am) a Berto detractor. But there is no denying that he is more than a one-dimensional fighter. Watch the Forbes fight again. 1st couple of rounds Forbes was confusing him. But, like a skilled fighter, Berto adjusted (and did so quickly) and turned the tables against Forbes. In his fight with Collazo, he showed he has heart. He can take a beating and give one right back against a big welter. I was impressed in both showings.
I wouldn't be surprised if Urango were able to catch Berto and possibly rock him and capitalize off of it. Off instict, Berto would just fight back recklessly and leave himself open for more punishment.
