The IBF should have allowed Berto to make a voluntary defense, coming off of a loss or not..

I would much rather see Jones/Lujuan fight for the vacant belt than Bailey/Jones.. Reason being, Jones is a prospect on the rise and has even been mentioned as a future opponent for Pacquiao as Lujuan came from behind to defeat an always tough Melligen.. With the winner of Bailey/Jones, if they were to fight for the title, I think it would probably be held hostage for a decent amount of time unless they schedule a fight between the winner of the two fights..

All in all, if they don't put the title up for the Jones/Lujuan fight, then I definitely see Mike Jones fighting the winner between Bailey/Jones next year.. Arum is going to try to get MJ that belt, which would definitely help build his stock..

The IBF are a bunch of imbeciles. They also took their belt away from clottey because he wanted to unify with cotto! :patsch

They also stripped malignaggi because he chose to fight Ricky Hatton who was number1 in the division instead of going through a stupid rematch with ngoujo:patsch

They stripped margacheato also for wanting to unify with cotto. The IBF are pricks of the highest order.

I'd rather see a Berto Ortiz rematch than Berto versus a washed up Bailey...Bailey can punch but he's old and always loses against elite fighters. Smart move by Lou Dibella

The belt don't mean baloney to him anyways, I'm sure HBO wants the fight, the money's there and now he won't have to pay the sanctioning fees. Belts are becoming garbage, I'm glad he dumped it, more guys should. I'm sure they could of given Bailey step aside money, but why? take the money fight and hell with it. This should be a great fight, and regardless of belt, this is the fight fans want to see, kudos to Dibella and Berto for making it happen.

I think Berto wins the rematch. I certainly think he'll be the more motivated fighter. Not sure Victor will ever be much of a factor again. Along the same lines as Cintron, I think when Ortiz gets in the ring, people will think "what's he going to do this time?" Combine his mentality with some of the head shots he's taken over the past few years and I think the end of his career may come quickly.

Alphabet belts mean nothing these days, but this is great. We get Ortiz-Berto II, and hopefully Zaveck gets the fight against Bailey for another shot at the title, which he deserves. The winners can hopefully then meet.

Berto has all the tools to beat Ortiz if he doesn't gas again.

Bertos paper belt meant nothing. It was gift wrapped for him anyways. The KO King is the true WW IBF kingpin.

How can Zaveck not be first in-line for a title belt?

Damn Bailey is getting a title shot damn this guy don't die. I remember that Cotto where criticized because his first defense was Bailey and He was supposed to be shot to as hell, now days is still a contender. Maybe Bailey was in his prime with Cotto just that Cotto was a beast at the beginning of 140lbs.
