To me he seems to be like Freitas in that area. Its seems that as his level of comp goes up his power goes down. I know that is the case with all fighters but with Berto its starting abit early. Rivera is an example. here is a guy that was waxed by Judah who was a smaller fighter then Berto...Rivera seemed to be hurt by every shot from judah, but had little problem with Berto's power, in fact Rivera seemed like his was the bigger puncher in that fight and fought as if he was. Its small things like that which most people miss. Rivera didnt seem to have much respect for what Berto was throwing and was really trying to walk him down. It was the handspeed that saved Berto in that fight, not power.
I thought this fight was in the works for a long time, esp when Berto fought on the Mosley undercard last time
Yeah me too. I think when Mosely legitimately thought he could get a fight with Margarito was when the talks between he and Berto broke off.
I never saw the Rivera/Judah fight only the highlights and it seemed that Rivera was standing in with Judah and was willing to exchange. This was not the case against Berto in which Rivera was running for most of the fight. I think if Rivera fought the same way against Berto as how he apparently fought against Judah then Berto would have stopped him.
Although I would haved loved to see it, a Mosely/Margo match up would have been a mismatch. Shane's desire to stand and trade at times would have doomed him against Margo. If he was disciplined enough to aviod big exchanges then he would have a descent shot but that's not Shane and that's why I like him.
