Somebody needs to tell Berto that the shoulder roll defense doesn't always work for him. It's okay against a slugger or a lesser boxer if used from the outside, but when Berto gets inside, he needs to pick his hands up. Even when Berto was against the ropes, Estrada was landing right hands at will. Berto has the potential to be great with his handspeed and power, but he needs to use his quickness on his feet and learn to box opponents. He shouldn't go into everyfight thinking about brawling it out on the inside. He could have more effectively, with less risk, kept Estrada at a distance, especially as the fight went on with his hard punches. He needed to throw in combination and then move. Instead, he was a stationary target. Berto has a lot to learn before he steps up.
Berto looked good in this fight, but if the proposed match up with Quintana happens, he's going to learn A LOT, including how to lose:yep
Berto is going to amount to very little in the end. I give him credit for the Estrada beatdown, which I gave Estrada a good chance and picked him, which I admit now was a BAD pick, but more so on the line of Berto's limitations. Don't think he'll beat Quintana. Berto should probably fight Clottey, since people think Clottey is something, that would get him a title shot.
Berto UD, wide. Clottey can't punch **** and gasses out early, but he does have good durability and would last.
If Berto fights inside on Clottey the way he did against Estrada, and doesn't AT LEAST put his hands, up, he'll get knocked out. Honestly, right now, I would pick Clottey over Berto. If Berto learns to get in and then get out though, Berto would win. He's not ready for Clottey. I would have him fight against a guy with power right now, but not with Clottey's defense and skill.
Berto has ALOT of skill, but he gets hit wayyy to much. he made a big deal about KOing Estrada and Mosley couldnn't. It was a very impressive beatdown, but Mosley didn't get touched up like Berto did, he needs to learn to fight smarter.
Yes, Cintron has a bad style for Berto and the power to KO just about anybody, Berto has not yet proved anything resembling a solid jaw, because Estrada is a below average puncher and Rivera, an even lesser puncher had him stunned nasty.
A Berto Vs Judah match would be a perfect test for berto. Judah wihtin 6 rounds K.O. if it passes the sixth round then Berto by brutal K.O.
judah will eat him alive berto will get ko'd within 3 rounds no way he can deal with what judah is going to bring in the first few rounds.... estrada was slow as a tortoise and nailed berto with some great shots..... berto needs to fight a guy like corley before stepping up to judah
BERTO has speed, power and stamina on his side, but his defense sucks...a banger like Cintron or a volume punching powerhouse like Margarito would finish him. I wanna see improvements in each fight as he moves up...then I could really get a better assessment
