The newest rankings will have Luis Collazo as the #1 contender to the WBC welterweight crown.
I'm not sure if Collazo will have to fight in any eliminators, but i'm sure he's going to be first in line for a crack at Andre Berto.

I think that Collazo is very underrated will be a tough opponent for anyone.

If this fight ever takes place (i'm sure it will) it would spell doom for Berto IMO.

    What do you guys think?

Luis Collazo is a GOOD boxer. He will beat Berto. Andre Berto is known to keep his hands down and Collazo has very quick hands and is also quick on his feet as well.

Didn't seem like Collazo liked the speed that Mosley brought in. Although Mosley is a much more intelligent and experienced fighter.

Biggest point I'd have to make is that Mosley has had experience of fighting with a southpaw in Winky and any others that he might have faced before going into Collazo.

Does Berto feel comfortable with a southpaw? Has he ever fought a semi slick fighter like Collazo?

    We don't know.

and secondly, Mosley had his work rate up as high as he possibly could against Collazo, BERTO does not throw a zillion punches, he only opens up when he stings you with a good shot and then he brings the combos. It seems like otherwise he throws one shot at a time.

Who knows honestly. And well Collazo isn't made out of paper either, He took what Hatton had to dish out and what Mosley had to dish out. He will easily take what Berto dishes out. If Berto were to Ice Collazo and beat him down - then hey it would be a good indicator in measuring how legit his power is.

Relentless and Executioner ... this isn't a one sided fight ... there are two guys fighting in the ring ... i'm sure that Berto will have something to worry about on the other end.

Berto's chin is suspect ... Collazo has slick movements (head and shoulders), ring savvy, championship level experience, power in both hands, and underrated speed himself.

How is Berto going to take one of those straight lefts across the jaw?

What is Berto going to do when he leaves himself open for a Collazo counter and gets floored?

Collazo lost to Hatton and Shane Mosley ... now Mosley has a good chin and Hatton merely survived.

How do you see Berto's chin holding up? ... its definitely not on the same level as SSM --

Great Points ... add to that, Collazo had to respect Shane's power ... Shane's chin is granite only being down (1) once in his career and taking shots from DLH, Cotto, and Vargas ...

Berto isn't on the same level as Shane ... Shane's just as fast if not faster than Berto even at his age now and thows crisp, short compact punches --

Collazo has underrated speed and boxing ability --

collazo is not slick, he is more of a brawler than he is slick, why is it all southpaws are thought of as 'slick'?

I see this fight being showcased later on this year on HBO's Boxing After Dark series.

Collazo is a live dog and won't go down easily and he's been a solid 12 rounds plenty of times. Berto has yet to go 12 ... especially with a guy who has experience on the championship level and who has held a title before.

I'm sure that Collazo's chin will hold up too because he took some serious bombs from Shane Mosley during their fight - and he took some from Hatton.

Watch him v Hatton, Mosley, and Rivera and tell me this guy isn't slick then.

He has good movment w/ his head & shoulders and shows good movement with his feet -

He pivots very well and knows how to duck the right hand ... I consider that "slick"

    Collazo is not a brawler.
