Very good job posting JUST the sixth round...yet forgetting to include that it was a flash KD...Berto recovered QUICKLY...DOMINATED the entire fight, before and after the KD...he landed almost 40% of his punches....and Rivera only landed 22% of his headshots...not bad for a fighter with no head movement???? :-( <----This is the only head movement Im giving you on this Berto subject. (honestly huki...how many Berto fights have you seen...really...I will still consider you a fine poster...just all of your so called SLIGHTS of him are just soooo off and the furthest thing from the truth you can get??? Its kinda out of character for you bro.)
You think the KD was the only negative thing that could be pointed out about Berto in that video? I can give you a list of 20+ things if you want. He's sloppy, he doesn't have good poise, he has bad defense, his chin is highly questionable, he doesn't fight smart to say the least, and he would get owned by a solid counterpuncher or B level pressure fighter. If Collazo doesn't beat him, someone like Quintana will. I've watched every Berto fight from the last two years, most of them multiple times. If you think Berto's accuracy/timing is phenominal, then what do you think of Gamboa's(which is in another league)? And again, who do you pick in Berto-Quintana?
:-( I give up...you say he has accuracy issues..even tho he has been very, VERY accurate (numbers wise) up until now...you say he has no head movement, yet the video you show to prove these things is a fight in which the opponent landed 22% headshots. NOTHING YOU ARE SAYING IS BACKED UP IN FACT???!?!?!?? Yet still you keep it up. I give up. As for Quintana...I dont think highly of Quintana at all. He is a good boxer, but struggles badly against fighters who can swarm and hurt him (see Williams and Cotto...exactly what happened in both). I do feel he is a better BOXER than Berto, and could see him taking a decision....but the question is, with Berto's speed and power, would it last that long??? Id take Quintana by close UD...but wouldnt feel good about it. As for Gamboa? I think Gamboa is a fighter who comes along once in a generation (he reminds me sooo much of a young, small RJJ). I dont think Berto, or many other fighters are going to match up with Yuri by the time he truely hits his stride. And that is NOT a knock on Berto at all...just shows you how high regard in which I hold Gamboa.
It's not impressive to "only" get hit by 22% of Cosme Rivera's head shots. Berto's defense isn't good and that's a fact. I don't need numbers to see that.. nobody does. If you're impressed by Berto's accuracy and think it's correct to call it "phenomenal", then alright, no matter what I say it won't change your opinion. I'll continue thinking that Berto just has "good" accuracy/timing, significantly inferior to that of a young fighter even like Juanma. Hopefully we'll get to see Berto-Collazo sometime soon.. it would tell all of us more about Berto.
:happy :happy :happy :happy :happy I don't mean to jump into this one, but I personally feel that Berto's accuracy and timing (numbers-wise) may be a bit flawed, cause his opposition hasn't been the greatest; which is to be expected though. Trabant would be a great example of a completely horrible fighter that has a great record and sometimes people get a little overzealous about that. I think I could land 60% of my power shots on that guy
:rofl :rofl :rofl For me Berto is like Katsidis, Miranda, etc. I will always tune in because he is really fun to watch, but lets face it he relies completely on his physical advantage, and once someone effectively takes that away with counterpunching or putting some good pressure on him he will lose. Or if his chin goes out....
That was funny. You had me going reading into the Tszyu fight was stopped prematurely. He will be champ again after he beats Clottey. Maybe a double header can be made that Berto and Zab on the same card and then to meet early next year?
Earned? Given is a much better word. Since he does have the belt, sometimes having a belt makes you fight harder to keep it. Hopefully he is one of those fighters. Also, it does not hurt to look around for some extra help in other trainers. I was very impressed with his overhand right and then uppercut wih the same hand. That was sweet. Can he do this with elite fighters???
Timing and accuracy is flawed. I have seen Berto fight before and tried to watch the whole thing on Saturday, but could only get to see rounds four and five. I don't know, I answered this before and I got chewed up by two other posters. I felt he was missing alot for the rounds that I did see. He is very flashy like Meldrick Taylor was. I truly believe he will settle down some to get his timing and accurancy up, but by no means phenominal. Something is telling me he will be more than ready for Collazo. Will Collazo be ready for Berto. I think the speed of Berto can really affect Q if they fought.
