Who you got? :bbb I think Omotoso would crack Berto's chin late on. Advantage in height for Omotoso, similar reach and speed. Omotoso is more methodical and looks the stronger man, with more genuine punching power. Time for Berto to fight a real WW which would actually be a competitive fight by popular opinion, not just the nuthuggers' opinion.
I know this is a joke, but I'll bite. Just no. Perhaps Wale could do it after a few more years of development, but he isn't in Berto's class at this current time. I think Berto beating solid b-classers Collazo, Urango and Forbes are alot higher than Wale mixing it up with journeyman Augustus and china-chin c-classer young park. Berto by KO inside 5 rounds.
It's no joke. I dont really rate Berto - I think he has overrated power and a fragile chin + I had Collazo winning, Urango was a limited 140lber and Forbes, errrrrrrrr.
That is why they are solid B-classers. I also had Collazo winning by 1 point but it was not the easiest fight to score so have no problem with the decision. I should have also mentioned Quintana as another solid B-classer he beat. Berto has to be one of the most underrated boxers at the moment on the verge of cracking the A-class (Was meant to face Mosley this year, then was in contention against Pacquiao). He's quick, solid skills, and decent power. Everyone says every boxer has a fragile chin - if Khan and Klitschko have proved anything it's that you can still go on to greater things even if people suspect "a shaky chin". There's high hopes for Omotoso down here but jumping level of opposition would probably end in him being stopped, which may put a major roadblock in his development. Berto is too experienced and his superior speed will be the difference.
Berto was slightly exposed against a shot to bits Quintana IMO. Carlos was landing some very good shots that seemed to go unnoticed by the disgracefully biased HBO team.
I would rather Aydin than Marquez at 147. Berto should really have been facing Pacquiao next, but what can you do. Back to Omotoso, rumour is he will face Aussie Naoufel Ben Rabah. I've seen Ben Rabah fight a few times and he has a fairly slick defense and good counter-punching abilities. This will be Omotoso's best opponent yet and we will be able to gauge how good he really is after this fight.
I'd like to see Wale take a step up before fighting someone like Berto, but I do think Omotoso has a lot of advantages on Berto (size, power, probably better defensively, actually sits on his punches). But as mentioned, the speed would really trouble him, especially at this stage in his development. Wale's my favorite welterweight prospect, but I don't think any of the prospects are quite ready for Berto yet. Maybe Kell Brook, but that's about it.
Brook? Hes not even fought anyone close to a fairly shot but game Augustus that Omotoso stopped. He is getting overhyped on these forums.
