I actually think Josh beats Berto....I think Shane beats Berto. But I think the kid would make it compeitive. He just lacks the experience necessary to beat the vets. At some point I expect Berto to take his game to that next level where he can beat these guys but right now he's still a work in progress with a lot of potential.
That's the thing. If anything that's what Berto does frequently is fight uncomposed, with the exception of his last fight with Hernandez who was a very limited opponent. Berto has the speed, power, and athleticism, but I think that recklessness is going to result in a loss. I wouldn't look past Clottey because his style I think would give Berto huge problems. It's a pity Clottey has to move up to 154, but then I thought I heard Berto was willing to challenge Cotto at 154 as well.
I get what your saying but I'm trying to make the point that whilst he is naturally defensive, he tucks up at times he doesn't necessarily need to in my opinion. I thought he put in fantastic groundwork against Cotto and ultimately it was a close fight. But after Cotto's cut he just didn't work that to his advantage enough, turtling where I think he had opportunities to open up. Sure, this is Joshua Clottey - I think he's a fantastic fighter - but he's thrown away rounds against Cotto, Judah and Margarito almost entirely out of a certain inactivity.
I scored the Cotto fight a draw. Clottey is one of my favorites. I like his style. His downfall is his that he's just not competitive enough.
Yes I wouldn't count Clottey out especially after fighting a fighter of Pacman or Floyd's caliber. Those 2 are in a league of their own. JMM and Cotto aren't doing too bad after their fights with Floyd and Manny. I still think he is a live threat to anyone not Manny or Floyd. I think so too. These 2 supposedly have a hard time looking for a fight they should fight each other. Berto's probably crossing his fingers on a fight with Pacman, but the Mosley fight seems like a done deal. Berto's not Manny. That is a strong possibility. Berto hasn't been in with someone as physically strong as Clottey.
but u know what clottey will never get a big name fight again berto nonetheless...he ruined his career with that bull**** sparring session with pac...ppl keep saying manny this and that but lets be honest arum threw him to the wolf and he basically had 0 chance of winning cuz the bob-father basically told him that this was gonna be the biggest payday of his life...now hes assed out and no one will fight him and he will claim that he is the most avoided fighter at 154 lol...****ing bum
Clottey wins. I don't think anybody at 147 would have an easy night with Clottey, including Pacquiao if they rematched (which they won't).
berto handidly beats clottey. lets remember clottey doesnt win big fights. he only really has one decent victory and that is over a very poor zab judah who is years past his best
You're not giving the man his credit. He gave Margarito and Cotto a run for their money and those fighters are elite. Judah has power, experince and fast hands...he couldn't do **** aganist Clottey. Berto has fought NOBODY. His only tough fight was aganist Collazo and he lost that fight in many eyes. Yet you think that he can fight Clottey who is surely a better fighter than Collazo and win and win easily?? Berto and HBO have seriously mind ****ed you my friend.
why would hbo mind **** me? i watch most fights on sky sports atsch yes he gave margo and cotto a run for their money, but how long ago was that? he is too big for WW, that is why he has no power there. and yes at WW i would favour collazo over clottey, damn right i would. and as for judah not doing **** against clottey, he couldnt do **** against cotto, floyd, nor baldmoir either. he is best at 140 and history has shown that. clottey is a good fighter but nothing special. he loses the big fights. he is more known for his losses than his victories. he is getting old now and struggling to make the weight in his last couple of fights. berto is young and on the up. he has power and speed. his chin is shaky but clottey aint the man to dent it. berto is probably the best of the good level fighters at 147. he aint good enough for the big names yet, but at B level he is the best.
Judah had Cotto hurt many times in the fight. He was killing Cotto with the uppercut. Judah won like all the early rounds in PBF fight and maintained competitive thoughout the fight. WTF are you talking about?? Oh and Cotto/Clottey was last year. :huh So Clottey has fought elite fighters and they all have been close fights. You yourself just said Berto hasn't fought tough opposition and is the best "B" fighter, but yet Collazo is a better fighter than Clottey. Get your **** together man. You and your post are delusional. Theres no point in even discussing this with you. You make no sense.
Not sure. I think it would be a good fight tho. I don't think Berto is active enough to keep Clottey shelled up for most of the fight.
exactly my point you idiot. he was just as competitive vs clottey as he was vs the others, and you made clotteys victory out to be a total domination. ok so cotto - clottey was last year, what has clottey achieved since then? what has he done of not in 2010? stop ignoring the weight issue as well. at 147 collazo is much harder than clottey, if you cant see this then you dont appreciate current boxing and live in the past. clottey is planning an eventual move to 160. him fighting a young lively opponent at 147 would be a disaster for him. stop living in the past. there is nothing current to suggest clottey could beat berto at 147. berto destroyed hernandez very impressively. his resume isnt too deep, but his victories over rivera, cherry, collazo, urango and hernandez are enough to put him top of the B-level fighters. clottey had very little power at 147 and appreciated himself he needed to move up. perhaps you know more than joshua though?
