Just got done watching previews for fight camp 360 and just watched fight 1 I had the fight 114-112 the same score i had when i first watched it i just got there a little differently, i was in the ball park of 2 of the official judges 1 had it the same 1 had it 114-111 The first fight was really the tale of 2 fights Rounds 1-6 Ortiz secured a significant lead and fought at the pace he wanted and frequently had Berto in some real serious trouble. He pushed Berto to the brink early and had him hurt, Berto was staggering as early as round 1 and never seemed to ever fully have his legs back Round 2 Berto was on wobbly legs and gettting hit but managed a KD, Round 3 I was tempted to score 10-8 to Ortiz as he really beat on Berto and Berto didnt land 1 thing worth while Round 6 was the best round Berto had in the Ortiz favored portion but the round ended with him on his ass. Rounds 7-12 paint a different picture and it was almost like a brand new fight After the violent 6th the pace slowed and the dynamic changed Berto was now off the ropes in the center of the ring and the tempo had slowed to his favor, he still lost more rounds during this stretch hence his defeat but he got in some good work and took less punishment in these rounds Berto was in the fight but ultimately got out worked in the championship rounds Fight 2 gives us boxing fans plenty to look out for 1st- Ortiz fought the fight of his life, there was a fire in his eyes and a determination not seen before or since, does Ortiz mentally stay hungry and determined and fight like a man on a mission 2nd- Does a war break out? When? Berto almost immediately was dragged into a pitched battle that did not benefit his cause. His legs went out and never seemed to return....does it start slow and quicken, this would allow Berto to start good or does Ortiz get on him early 3rd- The Ref? Ortiz butted and rabbit punched a lot in fight 1, the ref did nothing about the butts but did dock for rabbit punches, considering what happened vs Floyd is the ref gonna call the butts this time, how does this change the fight 4th- Who learned more from last time? Both guys did a lot of right both did a lot of wrong. It was a great fight where each guy really had their chances. Is one guy seemingly better prepared the 2nd time around? Ultimately Berto must- Stay off the ropes, Ortiz worked him over, Have a strategy stick to and box, in the 1st 5 or 6 rounds he laid on the ropes and waited to just blast Ortiz with the right and he took a lot to land that 1 shot. After the Ortiz loss hopefully he learned his lesson and got brough back down to earth He must move and clinch when necessary to slow the pace and break the wild Ortiz Ortiz- must do exactly what he did last fight, Ortiz has the better gas tank, he just ran a marathon and Berto gases frequently, Ortiz has to get to Berto tire him make him crack early He must get Berto on the ropes every chance he can and get rough with him inside. He must not let Berto move and counter or plant and fire the right like the 1 in the 6th Things I wanna see Berto- the left hook, he landed several of these after the 6th, there was 1 or 2 in the 7th that really had an effect, Berto got a little predictable and a litttle right hand happy, he must add another weapon, it could be the difference Ortiz- fight a smart fight and do exactly what he did in fight 1 The Back Story Funny, in the first fight in 12 or 11 Merchant and Lampley are claiming how he was said to not be a fighter and now he will be a star that everyone will wanna watch after the Floyd fight ppl are saying exactly what they said before Berto Ortiz 1, Can Ortiz get over the mental blocks its almost like the same scenario going into the fight all over for Ortiz, only this time Berto has something to prove too Fight 1 Berto was considered taking on a 140 pound guy with a soft head and coming off a draw ppl thought Oscar was tossing Ortiz to the wolves well now Berto has no 0, and is facing the man who took it, he also beat Zavek but not impressively so questions do linger Both men seem hungry and have plenty to prove, this time around i do favor Berto
