I was just checking out ESPN in the boxing section and it mentioned that Dibella signed Quintana and put him on that card in hopes to set up an eventual fight between Berto and Quintana...has anyone else heard about this or if there's been anymore development. I would love to see this take place.... Go Berto :bbb

I hope this fight turns out. Berto has improved over his last couple fights and he's gonna need to improve his defence immensly b4 stepping up to the real big threats.. Berto has stepped it up his last 2 fights in regards to competition but this would be a great step up.

This would be an excellent fight. Does Berto have the technique to overpower Quintana the way Cotto did?

^^^ good question. I believe he does but he needs to work on defense or he's gonna have a short career

Yep. They'd better keep him away from punchers for the time being.

A question I have is why is it so rare to find a fighter that has the speed and power like Berto, Cotto, Cintron but bad defense, or you have a fighter like Pauli, Winky, or Spinks that hit like power puffs. imagine one of those punchers above with one of the others defense. or vice versa

I wonder if Berto would fare better against Quintana than Julio

I think he will because I belive Berto is a little less one-dimensional that Julio. This would be a tough fight for Berto though, I think it all depends on how much Cotto took out of Quintana. If the same Quintana that showed up for Julio shows up for Berto I think Quintana wins.

I think Berto can beat Quintana. Quintana doesn't have a style that would really trouble Berto.

He's not tall and rangy like Cintron who I would keep the **** away from Berto at this time, and he's not a come fowards, pressure fighter with a good chin like Estrada. (I'm not saying Berto is ready for Cotto either....he's NOT!!!)

Estrada troubled Berto because Berto thinks he can bang harder than anyone out there, so instead of playing the role of a boxer like he should have, Berto was too apt to get inside and mix it up.

When he did, he did two things wrong. He should have feinted the jab occassionaly or thrown a light one and followed it up with a massive uppercut as Estrada came in, used his legs and moved around instead of staying stationary and MOST IMPORTANTLY, PUT HIS ****IN HANDS UP ON THE INSIDE.

Someone needs to tell Berto he's not Floyd. Totally different fighter, but tons of potential, and with the exception of Cintron and Paul Williams, I think he could eventually beat any guy out there......................maybe even them eventually, but he has a long way to go.

If he gets by Quintana...They should look for Joel Julio...And if they get a little brave I'd say they should fight Joshua Clottey...Personally I'd love to see Berto vs Clottey I think that would be an absolute war.

I think so. For one thing, Berto is more tested now than Julio was in that fight, and I like Berto better anyway because of his superior handspeed.

That's not to say I think he would win. Intriguing matchup. Let's hope it happens.

I agree with some of your points, but I think you overstate Berto's movement. His feet look suspect to me, because he's naturally flat-footed, and my No. 1 question with him always has been how he'd fare against a guy who could give him lateral movement and punch from angles.

Quintana is one of those guys, if not a real hitter. On the other hand, Berto does have better speed and overall ability than the overrated Julio, so he might be able to crack Carlos over the course of a hard fight.
