definately. from what I've read so far, if the same situation happened and Quintana started moaning about an early stoppage, everyone would say it was an early stoppage.
a new ref that don't need the bad press mercante ...god rest his soul would have allowed quintana to try to answer back... that was the hardest hit in the show....but quintana is no *****...if a flurry unanswered would have followed then ..it would be just.
I'm glad there are some cats that did see it that way.... i think they would have given berto a fighting chance had he taken that punch in that corner and not closed the show so early.
That's what I think too. My man Smoger might have allowed it to go on for another 5-10 punches or so.
:bart Too bad Quintana and his team were fine with the stoppage. I believe they knew better than anyone else what would happen, had the fight continued.
'No. there was no reason to allowed it to continue other than pleased fans who want to see a fighter get hurt
I thought Quintana was taking punishment for a few rounds and was feeling Berto's power . . . thus all the holding. Berto is not a KO puncher but is a solid puncher with fast hands and can deal a lot of punishment in a short period of time (speed kills baby). I do not think the ref was sucking Berto's dick . . . I think he just sucked! Was Quintana ready to go to sleep . . . no! But as others have already stated many refs would have stepped in earlier. I think he gave Carlos every chance to fight back and then some but he was taking way to much punishment . . . and there was no protest from the fighter or his corner . . . so no he did not stop it earlier. IMO This win does not put Berto in the A++ (PBF & PAC) catagory, A+ (SMM, Pwill) or A (Cotto) But I say he is a solid A- ( along with Clottey and Cintron if he like Pwill come back to 147) . . . better than the B fighters Quintana, Collazo, ******* Margocheato. I always thought SSM was a bad matchup for him. See the next logical step would be a Cotto fight . . . I think Cotto is still a Major Player but is ripe for the picking and Foreman may already do it before Berto gets a chance. The end result of his fight is that Berto is not yet a super star and Quintana may very well be the best gatekeeper in the biz right now!
