Dwyer is going for zaveck and ive been hearing that Berto may be in trouble for this fight. [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DE4jSXbEgz0[/ame] What do y'all think. I Sense a robbery:-(
Berto should win this one easily. Zaveck is European level. I saw his fight against Jackiewicz. He will be significantly slower than Berto. He has power but Berto is durable and has got good chin. Berto easy UD or maybe even TKO.
There is a big difference that certain people overlook. Berto has stayed fighting out of America in his comfort zone, whilst Zaveck has fought in other countries besides Slovenia like Germany, S Africa and Poland and will now as champ travel, something many American based champs dont do. Zaveck will take Berto into deep waters with pressure that Berto isnt used to. Zaveck will win, probably by clear UD
But, more seriously, I see these guys, all things considered, as only solid welters. B's. Guys that wouldn't be "the man" but any given day might take a title when it's not defended by an elite fighter. If Berto or Zaveck at any time faced a Pacquiao or Mayweather, they'd have gotten a non-competitive ass-kicking. It would be embarrassing. But, they've both got some significant attributes. I think the location of the fight will see Berto with it in the bag, if it's at all close and goes the distance. If it's not close, I think it'll end up being because of Berto's speed. For single punches, Berto may very well be the fastest name-fighter in the division. It's his only elite attribute, imo, even though he has pretty good pop. I do think Zaveck is getting sold short because of a Euro-bias where it basically goes: If I haven't heard from you and you're European, you are ****. I don't like that. I bet on Zaveck on Kirk's thread also, mostly as an Atlas move, as in to say I called it if it happens. I do think Berto on the cards is the more likely outcome, even if it's competitive and even if it's arguably Zaveck's win. I'm hoping for a good fight and I was happy to see the match made. I've never really liked Berto but I appreciate him jumping back with a title fight, like this. He could've probably smacked around far lesser fighters for a while with little criticism. I do not believe Berto will blow out Zaveck and I think Zaveck will look bad until he picks it up and Berto starts to flag, leading to a competitive match going to the cards. However, if Berto blows him out, no problem, I've underestimated him and won't be claiming that Zaveck is no good. I'll give full credit and say a solid B+ beat a solid B- (instead of two B's, I'll be differentiating, see?). But, if it's close, I'll maintain that they're on basically the same level, even though one has a much higher flash to substance ratio. :hey
Sweet Jesus that was written with inteligence, was that so hard to do??? And i like what you wrote sums up my thoughts too !!! Zavecks power is underestimated because of his record, people here need to know that most of his opponents fought in a negative style coming into the fight's with defensive mindset - it's hard to knock out these kind of fighters.
I think Berto wins a decision. I think his speed and athleticism will be enough to win the early rounds as Zaveck starts slowly. Zaveck should come into the fight in the second half and it'll be interesting to see if Berto's new training regimen will enable him to be stronger down the stretch. Either way, I'll take Berto to win.
I'm going with the under and picking Zaveck by KO mid-way through the fight. No particular reason really, it'll just shake things up a bit in the WW division, which is a good thing. So I guess that's my preferred outcome :conf
