After annihilating the can of sauerkraut he fought last Saturday, who should Berto fight next? Is it time to step up?
JUDAH - They already had a war of words - so I think this would be an interesting match. Judah couldn't even use the arguement that Berto is not on his level - when he's being fighting on ESPN2's Friday Night Fights - trying to get his **** right. This would be Berto's biggest test - and it would get Judah back on the Major Networks. If either looks good - it will only help their careers.
I'd like to see Berto Fight Quintana. He needs to step up and fight against some upper level welterweights and that is a winnable fight for him. Plus its for a belt.
ain't going to happen..DibELLA WILL NOT ALLOWED bERTO TO FIGHT ANYOJNE OF ANY ABILITY FOR ANOTHER 2 YEARS
Well - being signed with HBO - Dibella can't keep him fighting nobodies on undercards. At some point he needs to have the kids tested. He's ranked within the top 15 WW right now - so something has to happen.
He'll probably fight another Michel Trabant wannabe, and maybe then a good fighter. Who will it be? I wonder the same thing.
I'm just sick of seeing him fight guys who are not at his level. His team needs to role the dice a little more and get him some better quality oponents
His fights are getting pretty boring although the Estrada fight was a real good test. I think that he can beat Clottey personally.
tired of people saying he is the next big thing, while he is fighting guys they found outside of the arena. and after of course he annihilates them they say wow did u see that! like to see him against judah or clottey!
I'm not sold on Berto yet. I saw him on ESPN last July vs. Cosme Rivera and something that was very evident was his inability to protect himself when throwing those swishing punches, particularly when he was knocked down in the 6th round by the journeyman Rivera. And this wasn't some flash knockdown. Berto was hurt pretty good. He recovered for the 10 UD win, but his defense was lacking throughout. I love his handspeed and power, but my impression of him whenever I see him (and I've seen him fight about 4 times now including vs Estrada) is that he's almost TOO muscled up and maybe a bit short-armed. He could lose some of that muscle mass, maybe even move down to light welter. Please understand, I'm not saying he's no good. I just see definite, easily identified areas to improve on. Concerning opposition, I think DiBella mentioned Mark Suarez and Walter Matthysse sometime back and I agree that that would be appropriate for now.
