Was that the one where Berto's corner intentionally cuts his glove to buy time after the knockdown? There's rumors going around that he gets knocked out in sparring regularly plus that Rivera incident which makes people think he won't pass the grade in the chin department.
I saw the fight, he was perfectly fine when he got up. And his corner did not cut his gloves on purpose. When he was in the corner, he looked like a guy that couldn't wait to get back out there; like he wanted to prove the KD was a fluke. There was a poster here who said that he regularly saw Berto train and never once saw him dropped during sparring. I doubt he was ever knocked out in sparring. Regardless, Tyson was knocked down on a few occasions while sparring, even during his prime.
heard the rumors came from his amateur days. not sure if its true but its been rumored that he's been down more then a couple times
Well if was known for sometime before that. It was always said that he showed a shaky chin in the ama's and in sparring early in his career. Not sure if it's been lately but that where all of the chin questions come from and the Rivera fight just fueled the fire.
This guy has yet to face a top-notch welter of the second tier which at 24 and with a belt I think its time he did. Beating on Steve Forbes is about the safest route to a name opponent people are familiar with only because he fought DLH. This fools no one except for the those ready to grasp his ball sack at the hint of anything meaningful, meanwhile this guy has done jack****....and there are plenty of cats to prove yourself with like Collazo and Quintanna or the winner of Lujan vs Castillo etc.....Its to the point where the question is when is he gonna fight someone good?
I'm seeing a bunch b.s in this thread people. I ask about Berto's chin and I get a bunch of responses saying he hasn't fought anyone. He's fought some guys who could hit and he held up fine. It's not like Khan who was put on ***** street by a feather fisted, domestic can. Rivera put him down, but he got right back up; showed no ill effects. He hasn't been wobbled or hurt in any of his other fights. Berto may indeed have a subpar chin. However, I haven't seen any real evidence to suggest that he does.
Not much. Being ranked #43 doesn't mean you can't hit. 22 of his 31 wins have come via knock out. Rivera is also a pretty big guy.
Berto's also very young still. I think he was only 23 for the Rivera fight. G.Leon mentioned about putting Judah in with Berto this winter, that'll be a good test for him.
