Besides Floyd Mayweather, who would beat Thomas Hearns at 147 in this era?

Mayweather, Trinidad, and Shane Mosely at their best would all pose serious problems for the Hitman

    The opposite is true.

Prime Hearns beats prime Mayweather 9 times out of 10.

How would he have found a way?

This is why you can’t be taken seriously on any thread regarding Floyd.

You could put forward an argument that Floyd was greater. But he wouldn’t have beaten him in an actual fight.

He didn’t have the size to have outboxed him, and he didn’t have the strength or power to have outfought him.

What i understood from the thread
title is that there are idiots who are
trying to say that Mayweather could beat Hearns without taking too much fire. Mayweather would retire, quit boxing instead of facing Hearns. Hearns outboxed Leonard in their second match (deserved to win according to Leonard himself), beat a better defensive fighter than Mayweather (Benitez), beat Duran, went to war against Hagler for three rounds yet there are idiots who think Mayweather could beat him.

There is no pure boxer (i.e a boxer who relies on finesse and point scoring that is lacking one punch KO power) from 147 to 160 that I would favor over Hearns. He is the ultimate nightmare for that style of fighter. His height, reach, and jab/right hand duo are too much to overcome on their own. Throw in lightning speed and thunderous punching power on top of that. Mix it all together with a seek and destroy mentality and you have two options: run away or go for broke.

The second option can only work if you A) have the chin and the resolve to walk him down and eat whatever he hits you with (which will be a LOT) round after round, and B) have the power to put him away.

    Correct.

Ray switched tactics in their first meeting, turning it from a boxing match into a fight.

Floyd wouldn’t have had that option.
