The richest athlete of all time will be Michael Schumacher. Tiger has lost most of his endorsment deals and many sponsors won't now pay out on their contracts.

By contrast, Michael Schumacher has been earning around $100,000 a DAY (standard salary, minus endorsments!).

It is estimate he has long eclipsed $1,000,000,000 in total earnings.

The saddest thing is that nobody outside of Europe even knows who he is.

Forbes magazine said Floyd made $65 million last year alone. Floyd must be in the conversation.

I'm not really sure about that, cause i'm almost positive Tiger Woods broke the world record as the first sportsman to be worth over a billion. Now we can get picky about how much of that was winnings and endorsements etc, but he was the first to be worth over a (U.S) billion.

How much did Ali make? he got some MASSIVE purses in his career (breaking many a record), and has countless books, posters, films etc that he'll get revenue off.

Someone here mentioned Holyfield and Tyson being close to billionaires, which I have to confirm as bull. Disregarding hte fact they both blew so much of their money, of the two of them Tyson earned more and he amassed 300million from EVERYTHING (endorsements, merch, purses etc), so they're both quite a bit off.

I dunno the figure but at one point (quite possibly even still) Lewis had made more than any other British athlete.

Just my thoughts and some insight I have, take it for what it's worth, lol...Foreman has made something like 100 times more from the grills then he has from fighting. I feel Merchant said this in an HBO documentary.

Both Klitschko's are millionaire's many times over. They have massive Russian and European television contracts. I don't know an exact figure, but it's "huge."

I know Vargas in in real estate, but I recently learned that he has made "a ton" of money from investing in, of all things, parking lots in LA, and surrounding areas. He was apparently making a lot of money in parking lots when he was in the prime of his career. Any return for Vargas isn't because he needs the money.

RJJ recently said in an ESPN interview (or a story Rafael might have retreaded in one of his stories) that he is fighting for money, and that he took home exactly 0 dollars in his last fight.

Ricky Hatton also has/had a massive tv contract. I was told that for his fighting with Mayweather he actually walked away with more money because of that deal, and that he was making multiple millions for years from the contract alone.

I've just been around the sport for a while, and this is what I've heard through the grapevine, take it for what it's worth, plus most of it has already been said.
