Besides Saul Barragan Alvarez, who beats a prime Kessler at 168 (Current crop)?

What does canelo have that would be a problem to Kessler other then illegal wraps, peds, two of 3 judges, and a ref? I still think Kessler beats him with all that help.

A bunch of you swore Golovkin would sleep Canelo, twice! Some even thrice.

A better argument would be Kessler Canelo at MW, as Canelos one win and draw at MW trumps Kesslers entire MW career (which is about half his resume).

not 168. Kess was a unified champ here. Canelo isnt on that level at SMW, not yet anyway.

@IsaL For what it's worth, this was my response back in 2016 on a Golovkin vs Kessler thread.

And while I don't know for certain, I'm pretty sure I know where IB would stand on that match as well. The same as me.

Cotto's brother came pretty damn close. The present day Canelo is pumped so full of PED's he pisses straight Red Bull. No one here knows how his career would have turned out had he not stolen JCC Jr.'s thunder and become Mexico's favorite fighter and consequently reaped all of the benefits he has from it, but I guarantee you, on an even playing field he's not 1/16 the fighter he is today, never would have been able to compete at the world-class level above 154, and his power and chin wouldn't have ever transformed into the PED-enhanced storms they are today. Actually, the Canelo who almost got dog-walked by Cotto's brother in under a round is probably the closest any of us get to see of a physically prime and peak Canelo without all the chemical enhancements, but even back then I bet he was still cycling a healthy dose of testosterone a week.

Turning pro when and where he did I'm sure enabled him to start messing around with juice -- possibly from the start of his career. He never would have made it anywhere near any olympic team with the testing they are subject to. After reading that Thomas Hauser article on PBF and the corruption involved with the sports most marketable fighters, I'm really beginning to feel the Olympics are probably the best official bouts to use as a barometer in regards to how good the world's elite are when they all are held to the same standards chemically and thats probably the most even a playing field you can come across.

Mikkel Kessler was a natural SMW and one of it's ATG fighters. He proved himself multiple times on the world-class stage there, and he never came close to receiving any A-side meth like the stuff that Canelo and his career have been framed on. Lay off the pipe bro, it's the ginger clown who's the unproven one between the two at the world-class level, at SMW, and on a level playing field without all of his countless benefits of being Mexico's boxing darling.

lmao I stopped reading when I saw your comparing the Canelo from the Jose cotto to the Canelo of today, I guess jose Cotto actually has more power than ggg right? Going by your dumb logic

Taking weight out of the equation Canelo is the better fighter in my opinion

Don't think he beats Kessler at 168 though who was a very good fighter

 @ Canelo beating any top level guys legit

Let alone prime elite SMWs. Gift decisions over 37 year old MWs & WWs aren't cutting it with me in this one... Peak Kessler would literally BATTER him!

They'd never take on a peak Kessler.. He had to age GGG out & get on the juice before even that happened! & even then he lost...

There are weight classes for a reason! Peak Kessler isn't a starstruck Fielding...

Even a FADED Kessler beat Froch! Out worked him! Bust him up...

He'd bounce Canelo round the ring... Canelo is a talent no doubt, but he's not a SMW! He's smaller than Abraham.. A quality MW who was found badly wanting at SMW for the most part. Pull your cawk out of Cinnamon's waste pipe Claudia & get real...

    GGGs OLD!
