Besides the money, this is the reason why Clottey came to lose.

IMO, i think that Joshua Clottey already had it in his mind that he was going to lose this fight. 2.5 mill is more then enough to give his family a way better life. But, Joshua Clottey thought that if he lasted longer then Cotto,Hatton, and De La Hoya, that the public would embrace him as this great fighter that did better the 3 future hall of famers and that his stock would sky rocket due to the fact he didnt get KOd and actually landed some punches. I think the way he went out made him look like a coward. What pro fighter goes into a fight to lose? i dont care how much money you make, if you have a opportunity to fight a ATG, you have to want to win. You have to try. IMO Josh Clottey is a coward.

Great performance from Manny even tho i have my doubts about the whole steroids thing. Hes a work horse and i cant wait to see his next fight. Its not his fault the threw a human punching bag at him. He does more work in training then he did in that fight.

  2. Bob arum paid clottey and extra 3 mill probably so that he can make hundreds of millions more. smart biz man, but a *****.

Like I said before, he wasn't paid to lose but the Pacquiao camp handpicked Clottey for a reason. They knew exactly what they were getting and that he was absolutely no threat to Pacquiao. Throw in the fact that he is, in fact, a legit top 5 contender and you've got yourself a Bob Arum event....

the only advantage clottey had over pacquaio was hieght (which he doesnt use), defence, and size he is a very big welter...and arguably the last at 147 lbs.

pacs team knew that clottey doesnt throw if he is getting tagged alot. but his pressure asnd handspeed was a mild danger...if you just sstay on top of him and not let him gets his punches off he loses...same agaisnt cotto and same against margo. cotto just threw combinations in to his guard, while tiring in the process. while margo just walked over him and just didnt stop letting him off the hook.

people are forgetting how many punches manny let off. over 100 a round. to clottey's 40...if your lucky...and thats his normal fight numbers. the last round against judah he wasnt throwing that much but was completly dominating.

I don't know about you guys but Clottey has always been someone I like to watch, regardless of whether he wins or loses. He's just one of those fighters. I hope he regains the world championship again. For everyone that always talks about how cheap titles are these days and disrespecting people's belts one thing you have to remember is there are some damn fine fighters who don't see those championship titles as cheap and useless. Anyway, Clottey showed a major weakness before the fight when he said, "If Pac takes me out like Hatton and Cotto then something's wrong," however you cut it it does sound pretty defeatist going into the bout.

Clottey was paid off. Pac's first defense of his meaningless abc belt was a sham

Have you heard? Clottey (Top Rank) is about to get a title shot against the winner of Yuri Foreman (Top Rank) / Cotto (Top Rank)!

After that performance, how do you land a title shot in a weight division you aren't even active in? Bob Arum is playing the boxing world for fools!

Just a happy to be there sub par opponent. He did not even fight up to his ability. This is a guy who gave Cotto and Margo and Zab all kinds of trouble yet all the tenacity he showed stayed in his dressing room that night. To me Manny needs to fight Floyd or Shane the two only real threats left at Welter. Berto maybe a danger but he has some question marks in my book. So far Manny has only slightly been tested at this weight the Oscar Hatton and Clottey fights offered little to tell us about him due to the lack of resistance he recieved Cotto did test him for 6 rounds. I'm not sold on him beating Floyd or Shane but its possible.

It will definetly be an advantage for Clottey that he finished the fight on his feet.

Every up and coming fighter at WW or anyone else that wants to make a point that he should have a shot or an advantage over Pac wants to fight Clottey now, to try knock him out. So his stock has gone up.

You can't really blame the guy. After 3 rounds he knew he was going to lose. I mean 9 out of 10 times after the first few exchanges it is clear who is the better man in the fight. And both fighters know it. All there is left for the lesser fighter is not to get knocked out and protect himself. Clottey did that what other great names failed to do.

The man is a professional fighter making a living. And he does that pretty well.

You are kidding right? Is that how the boxing world feels about Kevin Johnson? Hell no, they want to run him out of boxing. Same should apply here.

This fight was fixed. Now Clottey will get a title shot against Yuri Foreman at 154. After that performance he gets a title shot? Cotto is getting one too!

They just all happen to work for Bob Arum. Coincidence? :think
