10. Ken Norton 9. Sonny Liston 8. Vitaly Klitschko 7. Joe Frazier 6. George Foreman 5. Evander Holyfield 4. Larry Holmes 3. Lennox Lewis 2. Mike Tyson 1. Muhammed Ali Agreed?
Are these the Top-10 of all time or just while the WBC has existed? I don’t see how you could leave off Joe Louis, and Vitali, Tyson, and Norton are much too high. And while I personally think Marciano is a little overrated, at least from a head-to-head perspective, you’d expect to see Rocky on here somewhere too.
I would assume Tyson is ranked so high on the list because it was the WBC belt that he won when he became the youngest world title holder at the age of 20. It might also explain why Kenny Norton is on the list since he didn’t really win a title but was given the WBC belt when Leon Spinks refused to defend the title against him because he wanted to gave Muhammad Ali an immediate rematch and so he was stripped of their belt and it was given to Norton. Not sure about the others on the list though,
The Joe Louis omission is disgraceful. As Ken says though, this is the world according to the WBC, a self serving entity pretending to be an impartial arbiter of sporting excellence. Actually, screw the entire list and the organisation it comes from. I'd sooner talk about anything else!
Bingo. This is WBC list. WBC formed in 1963. That is pre Joe Louis pre Marciano . Can't you guys read. Decent list tbh.
